Shanghai Food Chapter ~ Must-eat xiaolongbao from a century-old famous restaurant
If "Din Tai Fung" represents Taiwan's Xiaolongbao delicacy, then the representative of Shanghai must be "Nanxiang Steamed Bun Shop"! It has existed since the 26th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1900 AD). It has branches in China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia, and the founding store is in Yuyuan. I heard there is always a long queue at this store! We came in the evening so we didn't have to queue.
🚇Transportation: Take Metro Line 10 or 14 to Yuyuan Station. The entrance is next to Jiuqu Bridge.
🏠Environment: The building is three stories high. The words "天一杯" on the stairwell are quite impressive. The overall decoration is very antique and the area is large enough. You can see the street view from the window. However, when you look at the main store from the Jiuqu Bridge, it is more splendid than inside. It is recommended that you walk around and check in after eating.
🤵🏻Service: QR Code/manual ordering, no extra charge.
🍽️Dinner market: There are not many varieties, mainly Shanghainese dishes and dim sum.
🫖West Lake Longjing ¥58
🌿The tea has a fresh fragrance and is sweet but not astringent. If you brew it more than once, the taste will become weak.
🥢Traditional🐷Fresh meat dumplings ¥40/six pieces
The traditional Xiao Long Bao has 16 folds. It is famous for its thin skin, rich filling, juiciness, fresh taste and beautiful shape. 👍This is the best Xiao Long Bao I have ever eaten. 😋The filling is plump and firm, and the outer skin is better than Jiajia Soup The buns are thicker. Personally, I think Jiajia soup dumplings are too thin, so they taste better than Jiajia soup dumplings🥳.
🥢Signature🦀Crab roe and fresh meat dumplings ¥72/six pieces
😍It has a rich umami flavor in the mouth. Ordering a little sour vinegar and shredded ginger will make it more appetizing. It is as high-quality as the original flavor. However, the price is really high, similar to that in Hong Kong, 😆 it’s expensive and delicious!
🐟Shanghai smoked fish ¥38
The portion is small, and the fried crispy coating is wrapped with tender fish🤤. It is a very appetizing dish, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside🤩, sweet and delicious👍.
