Miaoli-Good to buy and eat 🌸|Osmanthus Lane|(Eat from the first stall to the last stall)
Osmanthus Alley, an old street with great shopping and delicious food 😆
This is a must-visit attraction every time you come to Miaoli. Whether you want to eat snacks or full meals, it has everything here. I especially recommend walking to the end of the main road, where there is a century-old post office! (But it was closed this day 🥹) The osmanthus lotion sold there is really super fragrant. I bought six bottles at a time and sent them home. I applied it all over my body after taking a shower. It feels longer lasting than perfume.
I also recommend you to buy Osmanthus wine here. There is no restriction on which store you can buy it from. Anyway, you can try it from any store selling Osmanthus wine on the whole street, and drink it until you are satisfied.
There are also various traditional flavors of pickled mustard greens and preserved radish, which are sold very authentically and taste great, and are very tasty when stewed!
When shopping here, people usually come back with a lot of bags.

Nanzhuang Visitor Center
#Taiwan Local Tour
The Nanzhuang Visitor Center is very spacious and well-equipped with a parking lot for tourists. There are cute frogs 🐸 outside to welcome everyone. There are also colorful dragonfly art creations next to the door. There are Nanzhuang tour guides and friendly service staff inside to ask for tourist information. There are introductions to the traditional culture of the Aboriginals and Hakka people and handmade products for sale, as well as Taiwan black bear art creations and introductions to the unique cultural customs of Nanzhuang. The outdoor art creations full of hydrangeas are very romantic 💕. The toilets are very clean and there are water dispensers. It is a very thoughtful visitor center. When you come to play, you can come in and take a look at the tourist information first, which will make your trip richer.

When traveling to Nanzhuang Old Street, my attention was attracted by the Tudigong Temple above. What’s special is that there is a water god here. Its appearance is simple and solemn. You can come here to feel the local culture and inner peace.

Stone slabs are laid on the irrigation canal, which is where local residents (Hakka women) wash clothes or vegetables and fruits, and they can also chat. The water here is abundant and clear, symbolizing the traditional spirit of symbiosis with nature and diligence and hard work. If you are tired of walking around the old street, there are also awnings and chairs here to take a rest.

Osmanthus Alley-Nostalgic Style
Nanzhuang Old Street is located on Zhongzheng Road and a side alley near Yongchang Temple in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, close to the Nanzhuang Visitor Center. This place is famous for its specialty osmanthus wine, so it is also called Osmanthus Lane. Must-try local snacks include pig cage cakes, dog ginger dumplings, etc.
Nanzhuang Old Street has a long history and a strong Hakka cultural atmosphere. It is also a gathering place for delicious food, attracting many tourists to explore.
In addition to admiring the distinctive architecture dating back to the Japanese colonial era, there are also must-try foods such as the special Hakka cuisine and the local specialty osmanthus wine.
The architecture of Nanzhuang Old Street originated after the Guandaoshan earthquake in 1935. It was planned and designed by the Japanese during the reconstruction. The two-story nostalgic Japanese wooden buildings have become one of the characteristics of the old street.
This is also the seat of Nanzhuang Township, where the residents are mainly Hakka people. It attracts many tourists on weekends and holidays. Other major attractions include Yongchang Palace and the old post office.

A Journey Back in Time
#myhiddengems
Nanzhuang Old Street, located in Miaoli County, is a hidden gem that transports visitors back to Taiwan’s past. This quaint street is lined with well-preserved Japanese-era buildings, traditional tea houses, and unique shops selling handmade goods and local delicacies. The old street is especially known for its osmanthus-flavored delicacies, such as cakes, teas, and ice cream.
Visitors can wander through the narrow alleyways, discovering hidden temples, historical residences, and beautifully restored structures that tell the story of the area’s rich cultural heritage. One of the highlights is the Nanzhuang Theater, a vintage cinema that plays old Taiwanese films. For those interested in nature, the nearby Lion’s Head Mountain Scenic Area offers hiking trails with breathtaking views. Nanzhuang Old Street is a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a charming destination for a relaxing day trip

Nanzhuang Old Street
My first time traveling to Nanzhuang old street with friends by driving ourselves. There are many stalls at the street, mainly selling Guinea flower products, the shopkeepers are enthusiastic, they will give you free drink or food to try, but if you take it, they will force you to get more so that you will buy something from them, I feel embarrassed, because I din buy anything and not interested

Nanzhuang Old Street Tour
Nanzhuang Old Street is located on Zhongzheng Road and a small alley near Yongchang Temple in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, close to the Nanzhuang Visitor Center. The most popular local souvenir is the specialty osmanthus wine, so it is also called Osmanthus Lane. When you come to Nanzhuang Old Street, you must walk into this narrow alley. There are many delicious snacks and many famous attractions! The "washing pit" at the end of the old street was where women used to wash clothes and chat. The Nanzhuang Old Post Office and the Nanzhuang Old Post Office (centennial Post Office) on the old street were built during the Japanese colonial period and are one of the ten historical buildings in Miaoli County. The cypress building is full of Japanese style, and there is a large mailbox and a postman baby at the door for people to take photos. After Nanzhuang Old Street, there is another Shisanjian Old Street opposite. There are paintings, local delicacies and some special shops to visit. After visiting Nanzhuang Old Street, there is another Thirteen-room Old Street opposite. There are paintings, local delicacies and some special shops to visit. I feel that the brick pillars of this Thirteen-room Old Street seem to be cast by magic by Harry Potter. They are quite unique and have a sense of style. The Kangji Suspension Bridge is located next to Nanzhuang Old Street. It was newly built and opened in 2009. It is 160 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. From here, you can enjoy the scenery of the upper reaches of Zhonggang Creek and the mountain city of Nanzhuang Old Street.
This suspension bridge is different from the hustle and bustle of Nanzhuang Old Street. Instead, it has a more leisurely and quiet feel. It is very suitable to take a walk here after visiting the old street and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Nanzhuang Old Street is a unique mountain town full of human touch, and it is also a place worth visiting when visiting Miaoli!

Miaoli Nanzhuang popular snack bar - Laojia Rice Restaurant
After going to Miaoli Nanzhuang so many times, I finally ate at Laojia Rice Canteen. This is a famous check-in restaurant, and there are already many tables waiting for the food!
🔸Combined carrot cake + taro cake 70 yuan
I think taro cake tastes better, you can taste the taro particles, and it is more fragrant when fried~ I prefer Hong Kong style carrot cake, which has a stronger taste.
🔸Hakka braised pork rice NT$100
This bowl of braised pork rice has a Hakka flavor that is different from ordinary braised pork. The difference is that it is fragrant but not oily, refreshing but not greasy, and the meat is evenly fat and lean. But I prefer pork legs with more fat😗
🔸Five Elements Stewed Rice Soup 90 Yuan
It looks like a buffalo soaking in water, with only its head and back exposed on the water, also known as Niu Wenshui. I personally prefer Hukou Old Street! The texture of this old home is powdery and hard, not very fond of it
