⛩What is Nashiki Shrine, where the shop is located? ? Nashiki Shrine, located east of Kyoto Imperial Palace, is a shrine that grants blessings for matchmaking and academic success. This shrine, which is also one of Kyoto's power spots, is home to Somei Water, the only one of Kyoto's three famous springs that has not yet dried up. Inside this charming shrine is COFFEE BASE, a coffee shop that has expanded its stores to Kyoto City and Osaka Prefecture, and has finally made its way to Tokyo☕️♥
⛩ Shop atmosphere
Because it is located in the precincts of a shrine, it has a Japanese-style appearance.
But the interior is a stylish space with black and white that is full of COFFEE BASE's worldview. The customers are all different, regardless of gender or age. The best thing about this place is that there is a garden outside the shop, and you can sit on the benches in the garden or on the veranda to drink your coffee. Most people enjoy their time outside rather than inside the shop. .
⛩ Menu ordered Coffee jelly & cafe au lait Cold brew (¥660) Chestnut manju (¥380) A bottled drink with a drink on top of a bottle with jelly underneath, which has become a standard menu item at all COFFEE BASE stores. There are various flavors, but in the end I like coffee jelly x cafe au lait. This can be enjoyed both in the store and as a takeaway, so it's nice to stroll around Kyoto with a bottled drink in hand. And the thing I was most looking forward to was the cold brew made with Somei water, which is only available at this store☕️Actually, water is very important for coffee, and the taste changes depending on the hardness and ph value of the water💡It is said that even if the same beans are used, the taste of coffee is different in eastern and western Japan. The cold brew made with such famous water was soft and delicious. The mellow coffee goes perfectly with the chestnut manju, which is also only available at this store🌰✨.
In fact, this store also offers a coffee course that can be experienced in a separate room, and is available by reservation✍️. COFFEE BASE is a wonderful store that expands the possibilities of coffee from various angles, and is one of my favorite stores✨There are two stores in Kyoto: COFFEE BASE KANONDO in Shijo Karasuma and Coffee Base BnA attached to a hotel in Shijo Kawaramachi, so be sure to check them out.
