#islands My summer getaway to Naxos was absolutely wonderful! 🌞 This Greek island is a hidden gem with its stunning beaches, charming villages, and rich history. We stayed near the main town of Naxos, which is full of lively cafes and shops. The best part? Access to most of the beautiful beaches, like Agios Prokopios and Plaka, is free, though beach chairs and umbrellas cost around €15-€20 for the day. 🏖️ We explored the ancient Portara, an impressive marble doorway from a 6th-century BC temple, which is free to visit. 🏛️ A short drive took us to the picturesque village of Apiranthos, known for its narrow streets and traditional architecture. Nomad Bear bar and restaurant is location on Naxos island, at Plaka Beach. This is a beautiful spot for the day, you can pre book sunbeds, this has to be done at least the day before as you can’t get sunbeds on the day. They have a great menu for lunch and cocktails. The staff are super friendly and always happy to help. The bus stops very close to the restaurant and to get back on the bus it is not far either. I went for the day and just had lunch and a few cocktails sat on the day sofas in the restaurant and it was so relaxed. Ancient and Mysterious Historical Sites Naxos Island has a long and glorious history, and the many historical sites on the island are like silent history books, quietly telling stories of the past. The most notable is the Portara Arch, which stands alone on a hill at the southern end of the island, enduring thousands of years of wind and rain, yet still standing strong. This unfinished giant arch was built to commemorate Dionysus, the god of wine in Greek mythology, and its grand scale and exquisite craftsmanship make people marvel at the greatness of ancient Greek civilization. When you stand under the arch, it feels as if you can travel through time and see the scene of craftsmen working hard back then, feeling the piety and awe of people in that era towards the gods. In addition, there are many ancient temple ruins on the island, and the ruins and beautifully carved stone pillars all showcase the once-glorious ancient Greek architectural art. Each stone carries the traces of time, waiting for you to explore the mysteries within. 2. Stunning and Enchanting Beach Scenery The beaches of Naxos Island are a gift from nature to the world, breathtakingly beautiful. The St. George Beach, stretching for several kilometers, has fine sand like powder, shimmering with golden light under the sun. The crystal-clear sea water presents different shades of blue from shallow to deep, from mint blue to deep sapphire blue, as if it is the color carefully blended by nature, the top painter. The waves gently lap the beach, making a pleasant sound, as if playing a beautiful lullaby. You can run and play on the beach to your heart's content, or lazily lie on a beach chair, enjoying the kiss of the sun and the gentle caress of the sea breeze. Agios Prokopios Beach is known for its tranquility and beautiful environment, with mirror-like calm sea water, making it an ideal place for swimming and diving. When you dive into the water, you will be amazed by the colorful underwater world in front of you, with coral reefs, tropical fish, and various marine creatures all in sight, as if entering a dreamy fairy tale world.

I had a very fun trip in the summer in Naxos Greece. This beautiful island has so much to do and amazing places to visit. I went to so many beaches with crystal clear water and I also went to so many nice restaurants that make the most delicious fresh food. I also explored the history of this island and did some really good shopping. I really loved Naxos and would definitely come back.

We booked a ferry from Santorini, it’s also easily reach from Mykonos and Paros. A spot is for relaxing, Naxos island has a long, sandy beaches, while middle of island’s surrounded by farms, olive groves, mountains, charming traditional villages, ancient temple ruins, and many Byzantine churches.
