The most romantic city in Germany must be the "heart-stealing" Heidelberg.
Heidelberg, once considered a microcosm of romantic Germany, is famous for its ancient university, magnificent castle, and picturesque Neckar River. The poet Goethe visited 8 times and encountered love in Heidelberg, writing the verse "I lost my heart in Heidelberg"; Mark Twain said Heidelberg was "the most beautiful place I have ever been to."
Heidelberg has one of the oldest universities in Europe - Heidelberg University; the unique history of the student prison; Heidelberg Castle, which is represented by Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture; the Philosopher's Path where philosopher Hegel and poet Goethe have walked; the world's largest wine barrel, and it is also the representative city of the world's printing press production.
Heidelberg is located on the Neckar River and belongs to the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The name Heidelberg officially appeared in historical documents in 1196 and is a classic on the route of the German Castle Road.

Heidelberg, the famous cultural and tourist capital of Germany, a city that 'steals hearts
'
On July 16th, the twenty-eighth day of the European tour, we arrived early in the morning by train in Heidelberg, Germany. The beautiful Heidelberg is a cultural and university town on the banks of the Neckar River. Winding and quiet alleys connect the ancient castle and the small river, full of poetic and picturesque charm. Nestled among green mountains and clear waters, Heidelberg's stone bridge, ancient castle, and old town buildings with white walls and red tiles are filled with romantic and enchanting colors. Heidelberg is the epitome of romantic Germany. The castle is located on the Königstuhl hill by the Neckar River, a reddish-brown ancient castle that is the remains of an ancient imperial palace.
The Heidelberg Old Bridge is a stone bridge with nine arches, spanning the north and south banks of the Neckar River. It was built between 1786 and 1788 by Elector Karl Theodor. On the southern bank, a bridgehead tower stands majestically, echoing the ancient Heidelberg castle on the hill.
There are indeed many reasons to love Heidelberg; it is a city that 'steals hearts.' The poet Goethe 'lost his heart in Heidelberg,' and Mark Twain said Heidelberg was 'the most beautiful place he had ever been.'

Heidelberg is so beautiful that Goethe left his heart here.
The famous "Heidelberg" is now the third largest attraction in Germany after the "Cologne Cathedral" and "Neuschwanstein Castle". If you ask me, Heidelberg is definitely number one. Its charm lies in the fact that the whole of Heidelberg is like a large painting: the background is lush green mountains, the Neckar River flows under your feet, the ancient castle ruins are full of history, and the spires are scattered in the old town with deep stone paths. No wonder Goethe described the beauty of Heidelberg, saying that his heart was left here. Although I only stayed here for two days and two nights, and the weather was mostly cloudy since early November, Heidelberg was so beautiful that I left my heart here.

Old Town Heidelberg.
On a chilly morning, we had just arrived in Frankfurt. We fought through the fatigue of a night on the plane and went straight to Heidelberg. The pale blue sky, rows of neat cotton clouds, and the morning breeze on our faces woke us up a little.
We admired the ancient and simple Heidelberg Stone Bridge along the quietly flowing Neckar River. The stone bridge is a Baroque-style building with nine arches. The two 28-meter-high round, tall, and strong white towers at the bridgehead are like loyal guards, permanently guarding this old stone bridge!
Opposite the old stone bridge is the iconic building of the city, the reddish-brown Heidelberg Old Town. The old town was built in the 13th century and is the site of the imperial palace. It is located halfway up the mountain surrounded by green hills. It took 400 years to complete and is a mixture of Gothic and Baroque styles. The historical mottled traces on the outer walls of the old town show that it has been severely damaged many times due to war. Mark Twain once praised it as a building that is broken but still has the aura of a king!
The entire Heidelberg Old Town is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with distinct colors. The red walls and white tiles of the buildings are like a Renaissance oil painting. As your vision slowly opens up, you can appreciate it slowly and be intoxicated.
Further ahead is the Market Square. It was already past 10 am, and the restaurants, shops, bars, and stalls in the streets and alleys were opening for business. In the center of the square is the largest and oldest Church of the Holy Spirit in Heidelberg. The town hall next to it is as solid and lovely as a wooden house built with building blocks, without any sense of solemn oppression. Walking on the clean and tidy cobblestone road, you can see the retro and simple century-old European buildings with reddish-brown as the main color. They are neither beautiful nor stunning, but they give people a sense of peace and comfort.
The aroma of bread and the rich and mellow aroma of chocolate fill the air. Sit down casually, lazily eat something, and experience the ancient and taste the modern at the same time!

Heidelberg
Heidelberg, a famous historic city in central Germany, has been filled with spirituality due to the flow of the Neckar River, adding a lot of romantic colors to the city.
The best way to admire the Neckar River is undoubtedly standing on the Heidelberg Castle overlooking the small town, the river gracefully traversing between the many exquisite red cottages, squatting into the distance. Or take a stroll through the old bridge in Heidelberg, and immerse yourself in the endless charm of this charming river.
The sun is about to fall, standing on the old bridge and overlooking, the white clouds in the air swim freely, gradually recovering the calm Nika River, and the pleasant scenery on both sides of the strait. This quiet scene is full of poetry and painting. On the stone pillar of the
Old Bridge Bridge, there are also couple lovers who come from far away, and they have a love lock that symbolizes love. In this beautiful scenery, leaving the forever imprint of love, extraordinarily romantic. The copper monkey next to the old bridge at the southern end of the old bridge is another highlight of the building.
If there is plenty of time, be sure to stroll again at the Old Bridge at night and enjoy the Neckar River in the night. Accompanied by the setting sun in the west, standing on the bridge and overlooking, it feels another kind of feeling completely different from "being in the middle of it".
Follow the light guide and follow the steps to the river. From this perspective, the views of the Neckar River and the surrounding area are more complete and seem to have more charm. The coastal landscape is connected to the reflections in the water, creating a dreamlike sight.
