DAY 31: Fun in Zentsuji Temple City Zentsuji City is one of the three holy places in Shikoku. It is the birthplace of Kobo Daishi. This year coincides with the 1,250th anniversary of the birth of Daishi. During this period, everyone who visits the sutras has special bead seals to collect, and I also bought them here. The cassock that is exclusive to Zentsuji Temple will be used as a worship item to fulfill your wishes at the 88th Temple. Departing from the hotel in the early morning, we planned to visit the scenic spots near the city. In the 31st year of Meiji, "Nogikan" was the headquarters of the 11th Army Division. Today, historical relics from that time are still preserved for tourists to visit. Nogikanori is The first division commander served from October 31 to May 34. During this period, he was stationed at Zentsuji base, so this building is called "Nogikan". The items displayed in the museum include: old army weapons, old army The 11th Division's related materials, records of past division commanders, division commander's office and reception room, old army and navy related materials (Sundew War, Pacific War and Kamikaze...etc.), Self-Defense Forces related materials, the collection is quite large. The total length is only 16 kilometers, and the distance between temples is about 300 meters to 5 kilometers. In this journey, only No. 71 to No. 72 has a downhill slope, and there is a small hill slope between No. 72 and No. 73. Most of the other roads are asphalt roads in the city. Along the way, you can also visit the Haiku Tea House below No. 71, and you can also visit No. 75 Zentsuji Temple (the largest of the 88, and one of the three major sacred sites of Kobo Daishi), which is very suitable for sightseeing purposes. For transportation, you can take the Yosan Line to Mino Station and walk 3.3 kilometers to reach Mitani Temple. DAY 29: Yesterday, I visited the 12th to 15th of the Bekko Shrines. I rode eastward from Ehime Prefecture to Miyoshi City in Tokushima Prefecture. Today, I returned northward from Tokushima Prefecture to Kagawa Prefecture, continuing the journey of "Kagawa Nirvana Dojo" with Kobo Daishi and his companions. The first stop was to challenge the most difficult shrine among the Shikoku Shrines - Unbeji Temple (900 meters above sea level). When the weather is clear, you can see the scenery of Tokushima, Kochi and Takamatsu from afar, and you can also see the Kenzan and Ishizuchi mountain ranges. Today's worship itinerary was successfully completed with the solemn back of Kobo Daishi and the scenery of the village of Zentsuji City. When ringing the bell of happiness at Deshakaji Okunoin, I also truly realized what "happiness" is. In fact, it is not "having" but "not having". 🎏 Zentsuji, located at 3-3-1 Zentsujicho, Zentsuji City, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, is a temple established by Kobo Daishi, the founder of the Shingon sect, upon his return from China in 807 at his birthplace. Along with Kyoto's To-ji and Koyasan in Wakayama Prefecture, it is one of the three great historical sites associated with Kobo Daishi. Additionally, it is the seventy-fifth location of the Shikoku Pilgrimage's eighty-eight sacred sites. The temple has a history of 1200 years and is part of the pilgrimage route, featuring a magnificent bell tower. The entire site is quite large, and the ancient camphor trees, some over a thousand years old, are also quite impressive.
