Nihonji Tenbodai located in Chiba prefecture. I climbed the mountain on foot because the cable cannot be used for a windy day. On foot climbing took around 1:30hr for one route and it’s easy to climb ever though you’re a beginner climber. But take a notice that there is no water supply or food store along the climbing. However, you can find souvenir shop on the top of mountain, jinja.

Oldest Buddhist temple Chiba Japan
Nihon-ji is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kyonan, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The temple is located on the slopes of Mount Nokogiri and is known for its Nihon-ji Daibutsu. Nihon-ji was established as a Hossō sect temple, was transferred to the Tendai sect, and is now a Sōtō Zen temple. Since its founding the temple has fallen into ruin and been revived numerous times.

#FamilyTrip
The 329m high Nokogiriyama mountain is lined with sharp rocks, and as its name suggests, its ridgeline is shaped like the teeth of a saw. Nihon-ji Temple is located on the southern slope of Nokogiriyama, which is known as a scenic spot designated by Chiba Prefecture.
The temple is the oldest imperial prayer site in the Kanto region, founded in 725 by Gyoki Bodhisattva, who received an imperial decree from Emperor Shomu about 1,300 years ago. The vast grounds of the temple, covering over 330,000 square meters, are dotted with many attractions, including Japan's largest rock-carved Buddha (Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai), the 100-foot Kannon statue, and the 1,500 Rakan statues. One of the highlights is the "Peek into Hell" at the summit area. If you go to the tip of the protruding rock, you will feel as if you are floating in the air. You can see a spectacular view of the Boso Peninsula, Mt. Fuji in the distance, and the Miura Peninsula, but if you look down, it's thrilling! It's like looking into hell.
You can easily get to the summit by using the ropeway or mountain road. There are also hiking trails, so we recommend combining your walk with a hike while admiring the seasonal flowers.

Attended fried horse mackerel at [Fisherman's Cuisine Kanaya]. Among the many restaurants famous for fried horse mackerel, I visited one that is open from the morning. The fluffy fried horse mackerel is very satisfying!!
[Nokogiriyama, Nihon-ji Temple] Climbing to the entrance on the toll road, I climbed the steep stairs to arrive at the hell peek of Nokogiriyama! It's a thrilling place that makes your legs tremble. The view of the city and the sea was great.
I took a slight detour to return to the parking lot while looking at the 1,500 Arhat stone statues lined with many Jizo statues, but the stairs were too steep and my legs were shaking. I got off the car and visited the Great Buddha. The Great Buddha is the biggest in Japan in both name and reality. It had a solemn atmosphere.
[Ezawa Katsuura Dandan Noodles] I ate the specialty dandan noodles in Katsuura City, which is rumored to be cool even in summer. The soy sauce-based dandan noodles are standard and quite spicy. The curly noodles and soup went well together and were delicious. Other customers were also impressed, saying it was delicious!
There was nothing particularly interesting to see in Katsuura city itself.
[Katsuura Tsuruntsurun Onsen] The only hot spring in Chiba prefecture to be selected as one of the 100 best hot springs. The brown water was viscous and really made my skin smooth. It is attached to a campsite, and seems to be used by a variety of people, including locals, campers, and tourists.
