A deep sea aquarium with fun exhibits, souvenirs and delicious food
Ever since my kids got hooked on deep-sea creatures, we've been wanting to go to a deep-sea aquarium.
This time, I'm posting about the deep-sea aquarium in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and the area around it.
Numazu City faces Suruga Bay, which is one of the deepest bays in Japan.
At the deep-sea aquarium, you can see rare deep-sea creatures, including those found near Suruga Bay.
One of the rare things is that if you're lucky, you can see a live octopus.
My family has visited the deep-sea aquarium three times, but only once did we get to see a octopus swimming gently.
You can also see the coelacanth, also known as a living fossil, in a frozen exhibit.
The large coelacanth with its sturdy scales is a rare creature that, even though it is frozen, has a different atmosphere from modern fish, so both adults and children are excited!
This frozen exhibit device is also a very expensive and special device, so please take a look at it.
The aquarium is not that large, but it is packed with interesting exhibits, including rare frilled sharks and creatures from Suruga Bay.
There are also many cute octopus goods in the souvenir corner.
My kids liked the octopus stuffed animals and bought them.
I also bought the octopus earpick, which is original to the Deep Sea Aquarium, because it is cute and unusual.
Next to the aquarium, there is an attraction where you can enjoy the deep sea, so I recommend it, although it is an additional charge.
Also, next to the Deep Sea Aquarium, there is a hamburger shop where you can enjoy deep sea fish burgers without paying the admission fee.
Of course, there are other burgers, but you should definitely try the deep sea fish burger at least once.
The white fish has almost no peculiar taste, and the sauce made it delicious to the last bite.
In addition to this, there are many other gourmet foods to enjoy near the Deep Sea Aquarium, including sushi, cafes, and puddings, so I introduced it as a spot that both adults and children can enjoy together.
