Similar in structure to a palace, it is divided into three sections based on the "three gates and three courts" principle, comprising approximately 70 rooms. Severely damaged during the Korean War, the main gate, Bujeongnu, and Seonhwadang, the governor's office, survived and are valuable relics for studying ancient Korean government architecture. Wonju holds the Gangwon Gamyeong Cultural Festival annually.
