If you've ever noticed the patterns on South Korea's 5,000-won banknotes, you're not unfamiliar with this place. Ojukheon was built during the reign of King Joongjong (reigned 1506-1544), the eleventh generation of Joseon (1392-1910), and is a wooden house with a relatively long history among Korean houses. Ojukheon is the place where Shin Seimdang (1504-1551) lived and where his son Yukok was born. The Korean sexuality perfected by Mr. Yukok is well known to the world as Korean orthodox Confucianism. There are Ligu Memorial Hall, the Dream Dragon Room where Mr. Ligu was born, Wencheng Temple, the ancestral hall dedicated to Mr. Ligu, and the entrance to Wuzhuxuan from the police gate and the four-pillar gate. In addition, there is an imperial pavilion built for the preservation of the inkstones and the Ji Meng Yaojue (a teaching book written by Kurtani for scholars in 1577), which were relics of the 12th year of Zhengjong’s reign in 1788. Wuzhuxuan got its name from the dark bamboos all around it, but what is more famous here is a crape myrtle tree planted in the yard. This crape myrtle tree is "ticklish", as long as you touch it lightly, the tips of the branches will vibrate, as if being tickled. Wuzhuxuan is a wooden building with an elegant style. The Gangneung Municipal Museum, located on the side of Ojukheon, houses materials from different eras in the Gangneung area, including relics from the prehistoric period.
