Visiting Dogo Onsen in Shikoku, which is said to be the inspiration for the bathhouse in Spirited Away, we stayed at the unique English-style hot spring hotel, Old England Dogo Yamanote Hotel. The overall decor and furniture are very British, exuding an elegant English charm. The hotel is located on a hillside in the Dogo Onsen town, offering a quiet retreat amidst the bustling area. Walking down the slope, you'll reach the lively hot spring street and the famous Dogo Onsen. There are also free foot baths along the way, which are quite nice. The room types at Old England are simple, with double rooms available in 18 square meters and 33 square meters. The decor features simple vintage patterned wallpaper. To be honest, the public spaces are more beautiful, but the rooms are still comfortable. Prices range from 3000 to 5000 New Taiwan Dollars, with an additional 500 NT for breakfast. The breakfast at the hot spring hotel is sumptuous, enjoyed in a European-style restaurant with a buffet. It's a rare leisurely experience. The hotel's large bath and sauna are also quite good, with the hot spring water being very smooth. Dogo Onsen truly lives up to its reputation.

Dogo Onsen is a hot spring town full of ancient flavor. I have always wanted to visit this place, probably because of the movie "Spirited Away"! The hotel I want to share with you today is as old and nostalgic as Dogo Onsen, but it is more Western-style! The Old England Hotel Dogo Yama-Hand is very conveniently located near Dogo Shopping Street and about a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Main Building! The Old England Road Hotel is really as its name suggests, exuding the elegant temperament of old England! We drove here and were amazed when we opened the door of the parking lot. It seemed that there was an elevator to park at different floors. But don’t worry, the staff will help you park. Just park the car at the door. The parking lot is paid! The hotel is designed in British classical style, with classical furniture and decorations, and all the rooms are Western-style! In addition to the reception, the hotel lobby also has a restaurant and a counter selling accessories and souvenirs! The layout here is so detailed that it feels like everything here is an antique! Just looking at the decoration and design of the hotel lobby, I almost thought I went to England! The hotel has a total of 7 floors. We were arranged to stay in the rooms on the 4th floor. The design of the elevator is very old-fashioned, with a semicircular floor display on it. There is a British sign introducing the hotel in the elevator, which actually says "A Sweet Welcome Always awaits you"! When we arrived at our room, we opened the door and saw some very old wooden furniture, including a bedside table, a suitcase rack, a dressing table, a single sofa, a round stool, a wardrobe, a TV cabinet, etc. There was also a double bed against the wall. The wallpaper and curtains were all old-style dark patterns! The bathroom is half Japanese and half Western style, and the patterned design on the tiles creates a nostalgic atmosphere! In addition, there is a large bathing area in the hotel where you can soak in hot springs. It is free for guests and closes late (until 1:00 a.m.).
