[Hokkaido] A seasonal winter sight! Miraculous Jewelry Ice
Toyokoro Town, located in the Tokachi region of Hokkaido, spreads across the mouth of the Tokachi River. Every year, jewelry ice washes up on the Otsu Coast, which faces the sea in Toyokoro Town, during the harsh winter. Jewelry ice is a type of highly transparent ice made from freshwater that freezes upstream of the Tokachi River, which breaks and washes away. By the time it washes up on the river, it has been scraped and polished into crystal-like gemstones. The best time to see it is usually from late January to around February. The number of tourists decreased for a time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but in recent years it has become so popular that tour buses also come. Jewelry ice, especially when illuminated by the sunlight shining in from the morning sun, is extremely photogenic. However, it is quite cold, so you need to dress warmly (you will die from the cold, haha). Parking is free to use. A jewelry house has been built near the riverbank and serves as a rest area. You can buy souvenirs and enjoy snacks. The toilets were recently built and are very clean. #Seasonal places in Japan #Snowscape #Hokkaido #Breathtaking view
