Meet Parramatta in NSW - Australia's second oldest suburb
#2月好地方2025
Parramatta is an extremely important city in the hearts of Sydneysiders. As the economic lifeline of the Greater Western Sydney area and the second CBD, it is attracting more and more people to settle in.
Parramatta was first established by the British in 1788 and is the second oldest district in Australia. In January 1788, the First Fleet of British colonists entered Sydney Bay and established a large farm here.
Today, Parramatta has a profound cultural heritage and is a diverse city that combines tradition and innovation. Run through by the Parramatta River, attractions include Parramatta St John's Church, Parramatta Park and other historical and cultural heritage Parramatta Square, adjacent to Parramatta Town Hall.
Australia's first prison transformed into a park

Prince Alfred Square has quite a history; it was the site of Australia's first prison in 1797, which was later burned down by prisoners and replaced by a two-storey stone building and the first women's factory. Established in memory of Prince Alfred, the first British monarch to visit Australia in 1867, this palatial park was originally a slum in the Sixties. Today, Prince Alfred Park is a public recreational space bounded by Church Street, Market Street, Victoria Road and Marist Square.
As the green space was vacated, its history of crime and punishment quickly faded from people's memory, and the space entered a new phase and became the green park it is today.

Parramatta Town Hall and Library exudes historic charm amidst modern skyscrapers. The surrounding lively streets offer a diverse array of dining, shopping and cultural experiences, making it a vibrant destination.
The Town Hall was built in 1880, a beautiful old building with a very lush interior and is very well maintained. There is some amazing atmosphere and history in this building. The connected library is definitely a five-star modern library in Sydney! The train station and bus terminal are just a short walk away. From the ground floor to the 1st floor to the 2nd floor, there is ample seating area. Beautifully designed with plenty of private study and reading areas. It is meticulously designed and has won many design awards. With good lighting, it is suitable for everyone who needs a room to concentrate on work, study or enjoy reading.

Superb
The food is consistently amazing, with seasonal changes adding excitement to the menu. The maple French toast is a standout, boasting perfect flavors, while other dishes impress with their depth of taste. Don't miss the delicious frittata!
The café's décor exudes charm, reminiscent of an old barbershop, adding to its unique appeal. Parking can be a challenge, but opting for Westfield parking and a short walk or taking the train is hassle-free. Easily the best brunch spot in Parramatta, though the popularity sometimes works against it.
