Back to Edo: Enjoy both food and night views
#September2024
When night falls, the night view of Onihira Edo is even more charming. Under the reflection of lights, the ancient buildings and streets exude a mysterious and romantic atmosphere.
First, the lantern decorations lit up the entire park, reflecting the style of the Edo period, making me feel as if I had entered an ancient painting while walking through it. Secondly, the observation deck in the park provides an excellent view, overlooking the night view of the entire Edo Castle. The twinkling lights and the starry sky complement each other, which is fascinating.
At Onihira Edo, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Edo period while tasting a variety of traditional Japanese cuisine.
At Onihira Edo, you can not only experience history, but also enjoy delicious food and romantic night views. It is undoubtedly an unforgettable trip!

[Saitama / Hanyu] Tohoku Expressway Hanyu PA (upbound) "Onihei Edodokoro"
This parking lot is a recreation of the streets of Edo, the setting of Onihei Hankacho, and it feels like a free theme park where you can travel back in time to the Edo period😆
The building is a recreation of the rows of food stalls at Ryogoku Hirokoji, the busiest street in Edo, so shopping is a lot of fun❣️
The reason this parking lot has an Edo concept is because
the Tohoku Expressway is a modern version of the Nikko Kaido to Oshu Kaido roads of the Edo period💡
It seems that Hanyu PA (upbound) was built to look like the entrance to Tokyo (Edo), so it's a PA you definitely want to see when heading south on the Tohoku Expressway👍
Please go and check it out🎵

Good quiet spot
Very nice, it was quiet that day with only about 6 tables seated. We were well looked after and the food was delicious. Two drinks two meals and extra sausage and bacon came to 4700 yen. Seemed about right for a more premium breakfast. The pancakes here have a nice consistency and bite to it.
They are really good even on their own or with a little bit of syrup, although I personally like to take their seasonal flavor. They also offer brunch options with scrambled eggs and bacon, something a little bit more unusual in Japan. Finally, being a little bit hidden from the main street, the cafe itself has a nice relaxing atmosphere and is as of yet not too busy. And that I appreciated very much.

[Ramen Taiga (Saitama Prefecture)] Flavorful, rich soup that is satisfying to eat
Ramen Taiga in Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture
𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃
When I was in the Iwatsuki area, I came here looking for some delicious ramen🍜.
The restaurant has 10 counter seats, 3 tables, and 2 tatami-mat seats.
It's not that big, but the parking lot is quite large.
The menu is simple, with soy sauce, miso, and salt.
You can choose wonton with the soy sauce and miso, and only the soy sauce has homemade hand-kneaded noodles.
The soy sauce has a strong flavor and you can really taste the dried sardine flavor.
The miso has a rich flavor, and although it looks like there are no ingredients, it does contain chopped char siu.
The gyoza🥟 are juicy with plenty of filling.
The crispy outside is just right.
This ramen🍜 is completely satisfying.

Time slip Onihei Edo-dokoro Parking Area
The Onihei Edo-dokoro Parking Area is a rest stop in Hanyu, Saitama Prefecture, on the Tohoku Expressway on the way into Tokyo. It is most commonly called the Hanyu Parking Area despite their best efforts to market it by the name of the character it was called after.
Hanyu Parking area is as much a tourist attraction as a rest area. With its Edo period design and ninja show and street performances on the weekend, the Hanyu Parking area has created an added incentive to go by car not train to and from the Tohoku region.
The theme of the Edo period goes past the design of the parking area, where the interior keeps with the exteriors image and replicates an edo period shopping area. A lot of the food and souvenirs are also based on commonly served dishes from the Edo period such as Unagi (eel).
If you are visiting the parking area, I recommend that you time it for just before dusk so that you can appreciate the detail in the daylight and then witness the charm when it is lit up in the dark. And if you can make it on a weekend you might be able to see one of the Ninja performances and/or street performances.
