Peace Memorial Park Address - 444 Mabuni, Itoman, Okinawa 901-0333 Highlights - Vast and tranquil park that commemorates the Battle of Okinawa. It is a great place to walk around and feel like you are at a different place. Rating - N/A 3. Maeda Escarpment (Hacksaw Ridge Address - 2 Chome-53 Nakama, Urasoe, Okinawa 901-2103 Highlights - Another calm and beautiful place to explore. Similar vibe to the other historical place mentioned above. You can see the view of Urasoe area as well! Rating - N/A

#Spring0yentrip When I visited Okinawa Peace Memorial Park, the first thing I felt was the solemn air and deep space of prayer. Standing in the spacious park, I felt as if the memories of the war were quietly speaking to me along with the beauty of nature. The Cornerstone of Peace has the names of many people who died in the Battle of Okinawa engraved on it, and when I see each name, I strongly feel that the war is not just history, but an event that touched the lives of each and every person. At the Peace Memorial Museum, I felt my heart tighten as I touched upon the reality of war through photos, videos, and testimonies from that time. Every exhibit was carefully crafted, and the importance of peace was deeply engraved in my heart. It was an irreplaceable experience to have the time to think about peace again in this place where I could see Okinawa's blue sky and beautiful sea. #okinawatrip It’s a park built to commemorate of those who died in Okinawa during the war. This is a place that every historian and younger generation should visit at least once when visiting Okinawa and remind us the tragedy and brutality that took place here. The park is huge and the views are breathtaking. Lots of parking available. Very similar to the Arlington Cemetry (USA) setup.

Okinawa Battlefield National Park is located in Itoman City in the southern part of Okinawa Island. It was the largest battlefield of the Battle of Okinawa during World War II. The government established the Peace Memorial Park here in 1972. In the vast green space, memorial facilities such as the Memorial Hall, the Peace Cornerstone, the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum, the Peace Memorial Hall, and the Okinawa National War Fallen Cemetery have been built. This is a chance to remember the dead, pray for world peace, and learn about the process of Okinawa's post-war reconstruction! This is my third visit to similar places after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Each time it makes me reflect deeply on the horror of war and the importance of world peace! Tips: This place is very large, so it is recommended to prepare sunscreen and drinking water to avoid discomfort!
