Peleș Castle is something you've never seen before. Not even in a film. Peleș has been in the same family from the day they started building it and... it's just a summer home! The last royal to live here was the King of Romania, who passed away in 2019. The castle is owned by the late kings nephews who have kept it open to the public. The castle is over 600 years old and has its own heating and air conditioning system but not as we know it today. The very clever people who designed and built Peles were geniuses! I only visited 1 floor. You can gain access to the Royal apartments and more depending on what ticket you buy, and I would strongly recommend you buy your tickets in advance online as the queues are long! I was absolutely in awe of this phenomenal castle, and it even snowed heavily on the day. It was so picturesque

I’ve been to some pretty grand palaces, castles and stately homes in my time and nothing I’ve seen comes close to Peles Castle in so many ways. The lavishness of the rooms the sumptuousness of the decorations, the stained glass, the woodwork, the metal work, it’s just incredible. Although it’s called a castle it really is in actuality an exquisite palace.Many tall groups come here and just spend 45 minutes having a lightning tour, I spent three hours and still could’ve stayed longer. Peles Castle can be easily reached from Brasov or Bucharest by train. When we went to visit, the castle itself was unfortunately closed, but we were still able to walk the grounds. It was one of the first castles I visited and it was truly beautiful and a place you would actually want to live in. It was really beautiful. The colors, the statues, the details of the architecture... A very beautiful place. The interior was all closed in February, and we heard that in the summer people queue for hours. The exterior is very beautiful and feels like a piece of Bavaria in Romania. There are small coffee shops and souvenir stores. The road is steep and gravelly which would be a challenge for wheelchair users. Our visit was really enjoyable but I would recommend a guide. I wish it had been open so we could see the inside which I can only guess about. I will definitely visit again soon.

Peleș Castle is a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia, built between 1873 and 1914. The castle is fantastic, in a beautiful setting with the surrounding mountains, it seems really fairytale. #bucketlistreboot Peles Palace Following from there head through the Peles Valley. Throughout your forest walk you’ll see many stalls with merchants selling all sorts of gifts and souvenirs. At the end of your walk you’ll be met by the impressive views of the castle grounds. You’ve arrived. Within the castle ground you have several options which you can visit. First, start off with the main Palace itself. It’s built in Neo-Renaissance and was the residence of King Charles I. It’s now a museum of national heritage artefacts. Interesting fact – Peles Castle was the first castle in Europe to be lighten up with locally produced electricity. Take that! #sinaia #romania
