If you like visiting museums, you must visit Museum Island when you come to Berlin. Museum Island consists of 5 museums, the most famous of which is the Pergamon Museum. Unfortunately, the entire museum is currently closed for comprehensive maintenance from 2023 and will not fully reopen until 2037. But don't worry, the museum is expected to gradually open some exhibition areas in 2025🖼 I was lucky enough to visit the museum before it closed, and saw in person the Babylonian wall - Ishtar Gate, the magnificent ancient Greek architecture - Miletus Market Gate, the amazing Islamic stone carvings - Musatta Walls and other precious collections. Anyone who visits Berlin will probably have a chance to visit some museums. There are more than 130 of them here, which are truly worth a visit. The most popular ones are 5, located on the Island Museum. Peegamon is another place worth a visit. It doesn't take long to get a ticket including transportation, or you can buy them separately, or you can combine them with the other 5 for around 30 euros. If you walk around, one day is enough, but two days would be better. The exhibition here focuses on ancient Persia, such as Iran and Iraq. Think about it, they took the remains of the wall and dug it up and put it on display here. Even the real owner of the country, even today, is not as big as here. What can I say about Berlin? Regularly, I’m asked what is the best place that I’ve visited? It’s a tough question. There’s so many beautiful and awesome places that I’ve been to, that it’s so hard to choose just one. But as a city destination, Berlin would be right up there near the top of the list. Why? It is a unique place that pretty much has everything. The history, the architecture, the culture and a pretty awesome lifestyle. It’s a city that doesn’t sleep, but in a cool way. There’s always something new to discover in every nook and cranny within the city. Berlin has certainly had its lows as well as its highs. The city had to endure the end of World War 2, and the destruction that followed. Afterwards, the city was cruelly split into two, where West Berlin could thrive and East Berlin was left under the influence of the Soviet Union. In 1989, that all changed. A year later, in 1990, the city and country were officially reunified once again. Everything that Berlin has been through has made it the city that it is today. Make sure you visit the museum quarter whilst in Berlin, and head to the Pergamum Museum to see the Ishtar Gate. For food, currywurst is a must. But you’ve also got to try Burgermeister. A burger chain that has converted some quirky places into Burger joints. #MayTravelSupportEvent Museum Island was the most impressive and interesting of the 5. It was a bit complicated and subtle, from the thought of how they moved such a large thing in the past to the feeling of being able to appreciate it so easily in one place, even though it was a loot, but if you like ancient civilizations, I definitely recommend this museum. Since the purpose of my visit to Berlin was to tour the museums, I was quite satisfied. The museum will be closed soon and will reopen in about 10 years, so if you plan to visit Berlin before October 2023, be sure to visit the Pergamon Museum.
