Here's a recap of my visit to Phantasialand a couple of weeks ago. Transportation: I stayed in Cologne and took Linie 18 to Brühl Mitte, then transferred to the shuttle bus (4 euros round trip, cash only). The bus driver sells tickets while waiting, and there's a pillar marked 'Phantasialand' where you can wait. Tickets: Our tickets were a gift from last year, valued at 57 euros. During the summer special, we added 15 euros to the value and got two tickets for 70 euros. If you have similar gift vouchers, even from other amusement parks, try this for a great deal! Attractions: Black Mamba was thrilling and a great start since the wait was only about 10 minutes. Colorado Adventure was surprisingly fun, despite being underestimated due to the number of kids in line. There's a China Town area with some less exciting rides, which served as a good break. River Quest was a water ride that got us soaked, but the sunny weather dried us off quickly. Lunch: We dined at Restaurant Cocorico, enjoying delicious tapas and bread without getting too full. Raik is a quick roller coaster ride, both forward and backward. Taron is the fastest coaster with noticeable acceleration sounds, leaving my legs shaky. I skipped F.L.Y for next time. Crazy Bats is an indoor VR coaster; my glasses were loose, and the line was long. Our final ride was Chiapas-Die Wasserbahn, sharing a boat with a family using fast passes. They wore raincoats and put us in the front, but it was fun! Tips: Wear sandals and bring a waterproof backpack, but keep it light. No need for raincoats in summer as you'll dry quickly in good weather. Many kids and teens visit in summer, leading to long lines. We went on June 9th, a non-holiday Friday with fewer people than weekends. We arrived at 11 AM, with most lines around 20 minutes, except Crazy Bats, which took 45 minutes. Visiting Phantasialand on a weekday allows you to enjoy eight attractions in seven hours, including riding Taron twice. Tickets for Taron can be purchased on the day, but buying in advance is cheaper. We bought ours on the day, and the ticket office was closed, so we had to purchase online. It's recommended to download the Phantasialand App, which provides information on attractions, maps with in-park navigation, ticket purchasing, and real-time wait times for each ride, making it very convenient. Unfortunately, we missed out on the big roller coaster F.L.Y due to rain in the afternoon, which caused it to close temporarily. The park also has screens displaying wait times and temporary closures. Our favorites were Taron and Black Mamba! Taron is a launch coaster with two accelerations, which is exhilarating! Black Mamba is a suspended coaster, which is my preferred type. Winja’s Fear & Force offers a little surprise and is suitable for kids. Mystery Castle is an indoor drop tower, but it doesn't compare to the fun of the beer festival rides. I still prefer the drop tower at the fair! The swings and carousel are perfect for taking photos. The food prices in the park are reasonable, with no significant markup, which is highly appreciated! Phantasialand is like the Disneyland of North Rhine-Westphalia! Although I didn't try the thrilling roller coasters this time, the other attractions were incredibly fun. I watched two shows: one was an acrobatics performance that left me in awe with the performers' flexibility. The show lasted about 40 minutes and was packed with a series of small acts forming a big story. The other show was in a theater with special effects like jets and water sprays. Highly recommended: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The rides were more gentle, and I recommend the 'Kitchen Mouse' (a name I made up because I forgot the real one). It's best to download an app that provides descriptions of each attraction, food, hotels, and shows. Upon arrival, you can check the queue times for each attraction and showtimes. Popular attractions have a wait time of about 30-40 minutes, while smaller attractions are around 10 minutes. 🎢 The 4D Crazy Bats is quite interesting, though I couldn't figure out how to adjust the helmet for nearsightedness. Fly is something I regret not trying, but I'll definitely try it next time. 🎤 The 205 show is highly recommended, lasting about 40 minutes with various acrobatics. It's very entertaining, so try to get a good seat in advance. 🎄 The winter ticket includes evening lights and artificial snow, creating a special Christmas atmosphere. ⚠️ If visiting in winter, it's best to wear gloves as the carousel and flying chairs can be quite cold. The 4D movie sprays a bit of water at the end, so be prepared if you don't like that. Some family attractions are also quite thrilling. If you're visiting Phantasialand, don't miss out on the Dinner Show. The four-course meal is delicious, and the performances are spectacular, making it worth every penny. The official show starts at 8 PM, so it's recommended to arrive around 7:30 PM. You'll be served a small snack first, and you can order drinks (not included in the dinner show ticket price). The show begins with a dance performance at 8 PM, followed by the first course. The pattern alternates between a half-hour performance and a half-hour meal, ending around midnight. The dinner tickets were booked by a friend who is a member of the Fantissima performance group. He and his team are from Taiwan, and their act involves diabolo juggling. We met in an interesting way through Xiaohongshu, where he is a fan of my friend @Dana Zeng. Upon hearing about our trip to Phantasialand, he helped us book the dinner show tickets with great seats and an insider discount. It's amazing how the Chinese community supports each other! Our seats were in the second row, offering a close-up view of the stage. The first half of the show had a retro vibe, reminiscent of a Broadway experience. The highlight was a costume-changing dance by a duo, especially the female dancer who changed into over 10 different colored dresses instantly. Despite our proximity, we couldn't figure out how she did it—truly impressive! The second half featured more acrobatic performances, including diabolo juggling, chain and pole acts, and various stunts. The most astonishing was a duo performing with their hair and teeth on the pole, and a group of dancers doing mechanical dance moves with incredible flexibility. For those planning a visit, it's recommended to stay at the African-themed hotel near the amusement park. Our adventure began with the earliest shuttle at 8:25, but arriving later is fine since most attractions start at 10:00. We strolled around, enjoying the carousel, and queued up by 9:40.
