Pico Day Trip
We went to Pico island for a day trip from neighboring Faial.
⛴️ We got the boat over to Pico. They have several throughout the day and a return ticket cost 7 euros.
🚐 We did a van tour with other tourists. The guide was knowledgeable and many your operators work from outside the boat arrivals terminal.
👀We visited the World Heritage site of the Pico vineyards, the Whaling Museum, Captain’s Lake and lots of volcanic scenery around the island. The whaling museum was interesting. It was a big part of Azorean history, however it would have been nice to see a move towards whale conservation now as a result of the past.
⛰️ We didn’t get to go to the tip of Pico island but we will be back to hike this mountain for sure!

Vineyards & Breathtaking Nature

There is no way a frequent traveller to Europe or someone that relishes European holiday hasn't frequented Portugal. This gem of a country has so much work in its favour when it comes to holiday destinations. Clubbed with a summer and spirit of adventure. Might i recommend you the nature getaway that Azores can be.
Located in the Atlantic ocean. Azores, consists of 9 islands spread out to the west of Portugal, all of which offer unique features, activities, and cultures.
Irrespective of which islands you choose to visit, you’ll find new natural feats that give each island a unique personality. As we’ll talk about later, you’ll see dormant volcanic formations, winding caves, lively forests, and much more. And that’s not all! Region-specific plants and animals are scattered, hidden around the land.
My personal favourite activity is Vineyards and this place has a UNESCO heritage vineyard. Making the culinary experience a step above others. Some of the island's specialities or popular local foods include cheese, seafood, and exotic fruits. In fact, cheese from the Azores is so tasty that half of Portugal’s supply comes from the island.
During my time there i explored multiple historic sites that are UNESCO heritage. Pico island vineyard cannot be missed. Depending on the season it could also be a great spot for dolphin and whale watching. You will find plenty of good accommodations to suit a variety of budgets. In the past I have stayed in 2 different boutique styled places.
It is absolutely worth a holiday here. The best part and whole tourists are starting to show up. Azores still continue to not be as crowded as other popular destinations in Portugal. Especially if you’re tired of crowded European beaches, noisy hotels, tour groups and artificial cultural experiences, then this is the way to go. #myhiddengems #naturedestinations #beachlife #azores #islandgetaway #100waysoftravel #solotrip #europe #singapore
