Plovdiv City Art Museum | Art Walk in the Old Town 🎨🖼️
While walking around the old town of Plovdiv, I discovered the City Art Museum (Градска художествена галерия), an art space with a lot of atmosphere! Not only does it have a collection of Bulgarian modern art, but the building itself is also charming, so it's a great place for friends who love art to visit. ✨
Art museums are usually scattered in various historical buildings in the old town, such as the Hachi Lambri House or the Hindlian House. I slowly appreciated the works by myself and felt the creative passion of Bulgarian artists in various periods, and I stayed in front of many works for a long time. There are various forms of art here, such as paintings and sculptures, so it was really a feast for the eyes! 💖
My Art Walk Tips:
Dispersed but dense: The City Art Museum has several exhibition halls in the old town, but they are all densely packed in the old town area, so you can walk around them. For example, the main hall is usually located at ul. "Saborna" 14A, close to many churches and the Roman theater.
What to see: It mainly exhibits Bulgarian modern art, including paintings, sculptures, etc. It is also a good idea to check in advance if there are any special exhibitions at the moment before your visit.
Atmosphere: Appreciating modern art in an old building is a unique combination of the old and new, and it is also very photogenic.
Explore the surroundings: The area around the museum is one of the most beautiful areas in Plovdiv's Old Town, so after visiting the museum, you can continue exploring the old town's alleys, handicraft shops, cafes, etc.
If you want to feel the artistic atmosphere in Plovdiv and learn about the development of Bulgarian art, the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts is a must-see!
