Let's walk into the military village era ~ Taichung Qingshui Military Village Culture
#AprilGoodDestinations2025
The "Taichung Qingshui Military Dependents' Village Cultural Park" located opposite the Taichung City Port District Art Center is the former Xinyi New Village of the Air Force Dependents' Village. It is one of the 13 "National Military Old Military Dependents' Village Cultural Preservation Areas" approved by the Ministry of National Defense.
The park covers a total area of 6.25 hectares. There is the Zhongshe archaeological site underground, and the above-ground buildings are a "settlement complex". In addition to preserving the architecture of the military village (residential type for officers of various levels), it also preserves the vegetation and rice field landscape. Opposite is the newly built military dependents building, giving a sense of competition between the new and old military village types.
Walking on the undulating roofs and narrow alleys, it feels like traveling through a time tunnel. Mottled walls and old tiles with a long history can be seen everywhere. Through the delicate traces of color in the space of the military dependents' village, you can feel the memories and stories hidden between the buildings, life and the land... emerging.
