The dream of the Red Mansion lingers in West Lake, where the autumn waters and the vast sky renew the northern mountains - Qiushui Villa
A Jiangnan courtyard that blends Chinese and Western cultures, Qiushui Villa was established in 1932. It is a private Jiangnan-style villa built by Shi Liangcai, the magnate of the Chinese press and the owner of the Shanghai newspaper Shen Bao, for his wife Shen Qiushui, modeled after the Grand View Garden in 'Dream of the Red Chamber'.
Address: No. 59, Beishan Street, West Lake District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
The recent 'Qiushui Villa' has become very popular. This seemingly ordinary homestay has surpassed the Four Seasons and Banyan Tree, and even the Amanfayun next to Lingyin Temple. An old Republic of China house by the West Lake has transformed into Hangzhou's most expensive hotel, officially opened for business, and has become the newest member of the SLH - Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Qiushui Villa has 8 guest rooms, each with a living room, bedroom, private lakefront terrace, and private courtyard, just ten steps from the hotel to the beautiful scenery of West Lake.
Hotel features:
The Shuangqing Terrace of Shen Qiushui, the Wenqin Pavilion of Feng Zikai, the Lakeside Residence of Li Shutong, the Evening Clearing Room of Nan Huaijin, the Zen Buddhist Connection of Zhang Ailing, the Rose Affair of Xu Zhimo, the Cambridge Love of Hu Shi, and the Memory of Smoke and Clouds!
The paintings and accessories in the rooms all have unique origins and reasons, such as 'Lotus Pond Mandarin Ducks' and 'Leaning on the Railing and Gazing - Qiushui Villa', which attempt to restore the time Shen Qiushui spent here.
Worthy of mention is the swimming pool of Qiushui Villa. This is the only semi-open infinity pool along the West Lake landscape. The glass and skylights by the pool can be fully opened, making it seem as if it connects with West Lake.
