Quyuan is the former residence of Yu Yue, located at 43 Mayike, Renmin Road. Yu Yue (1821-1906), styled Yinfu, self-styled Quyuan Jushi, was from Deqing, Zhejiang. He became a Jinshi in the 30th year of the Daoguang reign (1850) and served as a compiler in the Hanlin Academy. Later, he was appreciated by Emperor Xianfeng and was appointed as the Xuezheng of Henan. He was impeached by Cao Dengyong, the imperial censor, for "separating the meaning of the test questions from the classics", and was therefore dismissed from office. He then moved to Suzhou and devoted himself to his studies for more than 40 years.
