The Red Rum mural
#liverpooltrip
The Red Rum mural in Scarisbrick Avenue, Southport, Merseyside was commissioned by The Sefton Borough of Culture Committee in March 2020. The mural is 15 metres tall and 20 metres wide (300 square metres) and was painted by artist, Paul Curtis.
Red Rum will forever be tightly linked to Southport as it was here that he was stabled. Trainer, Ginger McCain, would put Rummy through his paces by taking him for a gallop along Southport Beach. It is this regular sight during the 1970's that the artist has tried to capture. Red Rum is galloping towards the viewer, right at the water's edge, with the spray and froth from the sea exploding in his wake.
Red Rum is the most successful Grand National horse ever. He holds the record for the most wins (three, 1973, 1974, and 1977) and runner up twice (1975 and 1976).

The classic British seaside town
The British seaside always prompts us to think about the holidays of times gone bar and there aren’t many place that still hold that nostalgia as much as the Merseyside town of Southport.
Here you will find all of the things which you would come to expect from the classic seaside amusement park, waterside gardens, a old wooden pier stretching out into the sea and of course a wide expansive beach.
Southport, however is home to more, with its delightful Victorian shopping street (rumoured to be what the Champs Elyse is based on) and wildlife reserve just outside the centre. #celebrateit #seaside #Fairground #beach #pier
Wandered through the enchanting landscape of Formby with the National Trust, where dunes danced to the rhythm of the Irish Sea. "Sands of Serenity" stretched beyond the horizon, a canvas painted with coastal hues and whispering pine trees. The red squirrels, elusive ambassadors of the woodland, played hide-and-seek amid the foliage. As I reached the shoreline, the echoes of seabirds and the scent of salt mingled in the air. Formby, not just a coastal haven but a National Trust sanctuary where nature's symphony unfolded in every rustle of leaves and crash of waves. #FormbyNatureHarmony #NationalTrustSerenade 🌲🌊
