Discover a Treasure Hotel in Shanghai with Excellent Value for Money
Regent Shanghai on The Bund
🏨Hotel Overview
Location
The hotel boasts a prime location in the bustling area of Shanghai, with a wealth of amenities nearby, making it extremely convenient for both travel and shopping.
🏘️Room Type/Layout
I stayed in the Regent Suite, which was spacious and well-laid out. The decor is modern and stylish, with extensive use of luxurious stone, showcasing quality and style. The suite has an excellent view, offering a panoramic view of the city, especially the charming view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. However, I learned online that the standard rooms are generally smaller, so if you have high space requirements, it is recommended to choose a suite or other larger room type.
🛌Amenities/Facilities
1. Dining facilities: The Jinlin Chinese Restaurant serves high-quality Cantonese cuisine and provides excellent service, making it worth a try. Breakfast is served on the 1st floor. Although the variety is not extensive, the à la carte menu is excellent, especially the desserts and noodle station. The bar is located on the 5th floor and currently only offers bar service, but is planned to become an Italian restaurant in the future. The view is the main attraction, but the atmosphere is relatively ordinary, with no live band.
2. Fitness facilities: The gym is relatively compact, and the pool is 20m long with no view, only suitable for simple swimming and recreation. However, the changing room is well-equipped, but there is no sauna.
3. Room amenities: The room comes with 10 complimentary bottles of drinks, all of which are international brands of sparkling water and soft drinks, which is very generous. Overall, the quality of the amenities is high, and the bedding is comfortable, ensuring a good rest experience.
🧹Soundproofing/Hygiene
The soundproofing is excellent, and you can hardly hear any outside noise in the room, allowing you to enjoy a quiet rest environment. The hygiene is also well-maintained, with the rooms cleaned well and the public areas spotless.
💗Other tips
1. During peak seasons and weekends, there is a high probability that suite vouchers cannot guarantee room number 06. If you are obsessed with the three-piece view, it is recommended to avoid peak periods to check in.
2. The 15% discount for members cannot be combined with the CNY 120 dining voucher without lounge compensation. You need to communicate with the staff to split the bill when spending to enjoy the maximum discount.
3. There are many attractions around the hotel, so you can plan your route in advance and make full use of the hotel's excellent location.
Service Experience
The check-in service is seated, and the waiting time for check-in is long, but the service response speed after check in is very fast, without the need for a second reminder. The turndown service is thoughtful and replenishes ice. During check-out, the butler personally accompanies you, caring until the car arrives, and sends a lot of water, which is warm and thoughtful. However, there was a case of overcharging when the room bill was charged. Although it was verified in the end, the refund will take a month or more to arrive, which needs to be improved. In the service comparison with Regent Chongqing, Regent Shanghai on The Bund is more enthusiastic and attentive in terms of door concierge service and front desk check-in reception.
Regent Shanghai on The Bund is remarkable in terms of hardware, service and value for money. The view and design are satisfactory (especially the suites). In terms of dining, Jinlin Chinese Restaurant and the à la carte breakfast stand out. Although the fitness facilities are not outstanding, the equipment and comfort are online. Overall, it is a hotel worth experiencing in Shanghai, whether for business or leisure.
