Embarking on an epic morning ritual, I kickstart my day by making a beeline for Grand Indonesia, conveniently a stone's throw away from my hotel. Navigating the vast mall in search of my inaugural Indonesian culinary escapade, I find myself enamored not just by the diverse dining options but also by the formidable security measures. Some may view the security queue akin to an airport hassle, but to me, it's a suspenseful journey where you never know who's standing in line with you. Huhu, the intrigue!
Embracing the challenge of navigating through a treasure trove of culinary wonders, I settled on REMBOELAN RESTAURANT after an enticing exploration. The decision was fueled by my unwavering commitment to savoring the diverse tapestry of Indonesian flavors, steering clear of street food cautionary tales shared by well-meaning colleagues.
Stepping into the restaurant felt like a journey through time, as its layout exuded an aesthetic charm reminiscent of a historical haven. The menu, a virtual map of Indonesia's culinary landscape, presented a delightful dilemma for a first-timer like me. After a meticulous half-hour, I crafted my feast – KOPI MADU KULIT KAYU MANIS (cinnamon honey coffee), a side of plain rice, the daring CUMI CILI GARAM NUSA PENIDA (spicy squid) with a fiery warning, and the delightful pairing of egg and otak-otak.
