Exploring the Xi'an Renaissance Hotel: A Comprehensive Analysis of the Pool and Overall Experience
In Xi'an, a city brimming with historical charm and modern dynamism, the Xi'an Renaissance Hotel stands as a shining jewel, attracting numerous tourists and business travelers. This time, I'll take you on a comprehensive tour of this hotel's unique charm, especially its enticing pool experience.
Convenient Transportation and Abundant Amenities
The Xi'an Renaissance Hotel is located at 355 Huixin Road, Qujiang New District, South Xi'an, and offers extremely convenient transportation. It's a short drive from the Chang'an Road toll gate of the Xi'an Ring Expressway. Close to the TV Tower subway station (Line 2 and the soon-to-be-opened Line 8 loop line), it provides easy access to attractions such as the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Datang Everbright City, Datang Furong Garden, Qujiang Pool Ruins Park, and the Shaanxi History Museum. The surrounding area boasts comprehensive commercial facilities, including the already-opened CR Wanda Plaza and the Xi'an CCBD CR Wanda Plaza, set to open on December 9, 2024, satisfying diverse needs for dining, entertainment, leisure, and shopping.
High-Quality Pool, a Choice for a Refreshing Swim
Located on the 5th floor, the hotel pool is a favorite leisure spot for many guests.
- Pool Specifications: The pool is 20m long, 10m wide, and 1.0 - 1.4m deep. Note that there are steps in the diving area, so please be extra careful while swimming.
- Circulation and Water Quality: The pool utilizes an external circulation system and is an infinity pool. The water is crystal clear, without the pungent smell of disinfectant. Whether swimming during the day or at night, the water quality remains consistently satisfactory.
- Opening Hours and Water Temperature: Operating hours are 6:00 - 23:00, but it's recommended to inquire in advance, as during the 2020 pandemic, the pool closed at 22:00. The water temperature is maintained at around 27 degrees Celsius year-round, providing a comfortable swimming experience.
- Environment and Rest Area: The environment is exceptional. The lighting at the bottom of the pool complements the mosaic tiles. At night, every photo taken here while swimming is frame-worthy. The rest area is spacious, and the unique birdcage design is not only creative but also creates a social space for relaxation.
- Service and Amenities: The lifeguards are attentive and responsible, and life-saving equipment is readily available. The bottled water provided at the front desk is the same quality as that in the guest rooms (previously Bama Platinum Spring, later changed to Zhongnanshan Spring, both high-quality natural mineral waters). The showers are equipped with the same high-quality Argus (floral and fruity fragrance, a niche American brand) amenities as the hotel rooms, and its scent is widely appreciated. In addition, there are ample shower facilities, a sauna, and a steam room. Steaming after a swim is both relaxing and beneficial for weight loss, detoxification, and pore tightening.
Overall Hotel Experience
Prime Location
The hotel is highly regarded for its prime location, just 200m from the International Convention Center and adjacent to attractions such as the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Datang Everbright City, and Furong Garden. With the popular Wanda Plaza nearby for shopping, it's incredibly convenient for both leisure and business travel, making it one of the best-located Marriott hotels in Xi'an.
View Characteristics
The surrounding buildings appear somewhat dated. Standard suites have a corridor outside the windows, which not only prevents access to the outside but also partially obstructs the view. Corner rooms offer a superior view. If a room upgrade is possible, a corner room is recommended. The hotel features a "Tree of Life" installation for photo opportunities, but the overall night view is quite ordinary.
Service Quality
In terms of service, the doormen were not particularly enthusiastic or proactive, and the check-in process lacked warmth. However, they were generous with room upgrades and complimentary breakfast, offering not only free double breakfast but also a variety of welcome gifts.
Facility Style
The room layout is standard. The bathroom is spacious, even feeling larger than the bedroom. The decor is typical Renaissance style—a bit monotonous, but impeccable. The public areas are spacious and grand, with some ingenious small design elements that catch the eye.
Dining Highlights
The hotel lounge is commendable, offering delicious food in an elegant setting, and it's usually not crowded, making for a very pleasant experience. The Xinjiang restaurant downstairs is also worth trying; the food is quite good.
✅Soundproofing/Cleanliness: Excellent soundproofing and cleanliness, both in guest rooms and public areas.
🏘️Room Type/Layout: Various room types are available, but the standard suites have a minor flaw with the corridor outside the windows obstructing the view. Corner rooms have a better layout. Overall, the room layout is standard, with a rather large bathroom.
🛌Amenities/Facilities: High-quality amenities in both guest rooms and the pool area. The public areas offer a wide range of facilities, and the pool is well-equipped, including a sauna and steam room, but lacks a spa massage pool.
💗Other Tips: Be mindful of the steps in the diving area of the pool; inquire about the pool's opening hours in advance; try to get a corner room upgrade for a better view; and be sure to experience the lounge and the Xinjiang restaurant downstairs.
Overall, the Xi'an Renaissance Hotel stands out among its peers thanks to its excellent location and outstanding dining options. Despite some minor shortcomings in hardware and service, it remains a worthwhile choice, especially with its unique pool, which adds significantly to the guest experience.
