It was established in 1962 and now custodian of an art collection of over 18,800 items by curating a wide world of contrasts from old to new, Chinese to Western, local to international etc. It was closed since August 2015 and after major expansion and renovation in 2019, it was reopened for public. A total of 7 floors with 6 floor exhibiting art pieces. Currently presenting Portrait Play, Shopping in Canton, In-between, City Rhymes (Melodious Notes of Calligraphy), Creative Chinese Characters, etc. Exhibitions are on temporary basis so it would be different next time when you visit again.
