Historic buildings

Located in the heart of Melbourne, Australia, the Royal Arcade is one of the world's surviving arcade buildings, a traditional arcade shopping mall in Melbourne's CBD, which is a heritage building. 1. Melbourne's tourist icon, the General Post Office Mall, across the road, across the street is the Royal Arcade. The arcade has a not-so-long and narrow interior street that connects Little Collins Street to Bourke Street, and to the west of Elizabeth Street, hence the T-shaped interior street. Melbourne's 'Golden Mile' traditional pedestrian street runs the length of the arcade. Along with Melbourne's other arcades, the Block Arcade and Melbourne's lanes, it becomes a tourist icon of the city. 2. Design features: The original design of the Royal Arcade features a high glass roof and window shops. At the southern end of the arcade, there are statues of the mythical figures Gog and Magog (in English legend, they were giants who guarded London), as well as an hourly clock. Nowadays, the natural light in the Royal Arcade is very good, and there are shops on both sides of the passage, and the small shops in the Royal Arcade are very distinctive, quirky, and sell everything. 3. Cultural heritage As a symbol of the Victorian Arcades, the Royal Arcades have been listed on the Victorian Heritage List and are currently one of the tourist attractions in the city of Melbourne. It is famous for its unique architecture and the historic shops lining the street.
