An aquarium that uses a natural cove.
You can observe creatures living with little stress in the beautiful sea of Shimoda.
There are also plenty of experiential activities, such as dolphin shows and dolphin swimming where you can swim with them.

The highly transparent sea and white sandy beach are a spectacular sight that you would never imagine is on Honshu!
I was surprised by its beauty when I visited for the first time.

■Shimoda's History
In 1853, Perry's Black Ships arrived.
The Shogunate, which had been in isolation, chose Shimoda as the port to open to the public at this time.
Famous sites include the cobblestone "Perry Road" where Commodore Perry walked, and "Ryosenji Temple" where the Treaty of Peace and Amity between the United States and Japan was signed.
■Activities unique to the terrain
Shimoda's coastline has many inlets.
Tropical fish and coral reefs live at "Hirizohama," which can only be reached by boat.
The sea cave "Ryugu Sea Cave" is also a popular spot because it looks heart-shaped when viewed from above.
Explore Shimoda's nature by kayaking, diving, or snorkeling.
■Hot springs and seafood
The ultimate beach resort x hot springs! Why not spend some time relaxing your body and mind while enjoying boiled golden-eyed snapper and fresh seafood?

I've been to Shimoda twice so far.
The first time was during the season when you couldn't go into the sea, but I spent the time kayaking and taking a bath in the hot springs.
I also walked through the atmospheric streets of Shimoda, lined with storehouses with "sea cucumber walls," and it was a soothing time for my heart.
