It looks like a crescent moon on the map. Croatia has a long coastline, the longest among the Balkan countries, with beautiful scenery along the way; it has over 1185 islands, earning it the nickname 'Country of a Thousand Islands'. The most famous is Plitvice Lakes, where 16 natural lakes are connected, with a large amount of calcium carbonate limestone deposits in the lakes, presenting green, gray, blue, etc., forming an ultimate natural landscape. ☘️ Speaking of Croatia, one must first mention Dubrovnik, also known as 'King's Landing' in the famous 'Game of Thrones'. Even if you're not a fan of the show, it's more customary to call it King's Landing, as it seems to show the grandeur of this ancient city.

✈I drove around Croatia on National Day. During the 11-day trip, I visited all the basic classic scenes. The last issue talked about the Zagreb-Split line, and this issue shares the rest of the itinerary. 👑Sibenik (Picture 3-5) The next stop in Split is Sibenik, which takes 2 hours by car, but I arranged a day. Because you will pass through Kaštera (Picture 1) and Trogir (Picture 2) on the way. 🔺There is a water castle in Kaštera, which is also a filming location for the Game of Thrones. 🔺I don’t have a good impression of Trogir. There are too many tourists at noon, and the city layout is very similar to Split. The cathedral is inexpensive and worth a visit. You must park outside the old town (1.5 euros per hour) and 4 euros per hour in the old town. 🔺Sibenik has relatively fewer people, and it is a "mountain town" with many medieval streets that are different from other cities. It is very suitable for staying one night and strolling around. Sibenik Cathedral is also a world cultural heritage. We did not enter it, which was a pity. 👑Rovinj (Picture 6-7) It takes nearly 5 hours to get from Sibenik to Rovinj. 🔺Rovinj and Venice face each other across the sea, and the old towns are both colorful. However, the area is very small, so you can walk around and see it all in 2 hours. 🔺I recommend two places to stay. The first one is the outlying island opposite the old city, Maistra Select Island Hotel Katarina. It has the best view for shooting the old city and you can snorkel right on the beach. 🔺The other one is the Maistra Select Family Hotel Amarin, a 5-minute drive north. Similar to Clubmed, breakfast, lunch and dinner are all-inclusive, and childcare is included. All entertainment facilities are free. There is a long coastline outside the hotel, where you can swim in the sea and view the old city from a distance. Those who don’t stay can also come here to play. 👑Pula & Porezzi (Picture 8-11, Picture 12-13) Stayed in Rovinj for 2 nights and went to Pula and Poreč one day. 🔺Pula has one of the only 6 remaining Roman arenas in the world, which is very well preserved. The arena ticket is 30 euros, which is worth entering, and the parking lot next to it is free on weekends. 🔺You can walk to the Temple of Augustus from the Arena, which takes about 20 minutes. It only looks good on the outside, but not worth entering. 🔺Porezi has the World Cultural Heritage Euphrasian Cathedral Complex. This church built in the fourth century AD has a rather simple appearance, but the mosaics inside are quite stunning. It takes 2 hours to visit this scenic spot, so it is worth a special trip. 👑Samobor (Picture 14-15) Because we had to return the car to Zagreb Airport on the last day, we booked a hotel here for the day before (20 minutes from the airport). 🔺Quite a surprise, the architectural style is very fairy tale, with colorful houses, wooden bridges over streams, and flowers hanging in front of the windows, it looks very much like those fairy tale towns on the German-French border. 🔺Cheap prices and the best specialty cakes in Croatia.

Although small, Šibenik offers so much. First of all, this is one of the oldest cities in Croatia, whose name is mentioned in a document of Petar Krešimir IV, and dates back to 1066, and for this reason, the city is nicknamed "Krešimir's city". Old city core of Šibenik includes 24 churches, 4 fortresses and 4 wells. This is also a city located in an incredibly beautiful bay, that you will fall in love with at first sight. Šibenik also has its own aquapark, which is the first in Dalmatia, it is the Solaris aquapark. Solaris includes a wide range of family and social attractions, games and attractions suitable for children of all ages and adults. I would recommend to everyone who happens to be in Croatia to visit Šibenik, as well. Šibenik, in addition to its rich cultural heritage, also offers plenty of entertainment.

It was my first time visiting Šibenik and I fell in love with it! 🥰 The stunning nature views will take your breath away here. Even though I went in Autumn past its season and there was very little to do, it was still a little heaven of Europe with warm weather all the way till October. #celebrateit The ancient capital of Sibenik by the sea is located almost in the centre of the Adriatic coast. The old town is full of narrow cobblestone alleys, and it is full of exoticism. The largest tourist attraction in Sibenik is St. Jacob's Cathedral, a World Heritage Site. The large domes, pillars, and walls that draw beautiful curves are all made of stone, and it is no wonder that it took 150 years to complete. In particular, the exquisite sculptures on the ceiling of the baptism table and the baptism room are a must-see! There are many restaurants for tourists around the cathedral, but I recommend Rivica near the bus terminal.

St. Jacob's Cathedral is the greatest work of the Croatian Renaissance, built between 1431 and 1536. The original design was to build a simple church with a nave, but later a transept, a semicircular dome, an inner hall, and a baptistery were added. The ancient building's dome has a decorative band of 74 half-portraits. The entire church is built of limestone and marble from the island of Brač. The lower part of the church is typical of the late Gothic style, while the dome is in the Renaissance style.

I feel that in case of croatia and new travellers or those intending to travel here with less number of days usual overlook it. More often they favour Dubrovnik or split. While people have their reasons but in terms of an authentic croatian experience and seeking a hidden gem as a way of avoiding crowds in popular places. I think Sibenik is a strong contender. It is as authentic as it gets, offering a glimpse into the local life, rich history, and wine production. When you enter Sibenik, you get these contrasting first impressions all within the first ten minutes or so. The quaint fisherman's waterfront, the Cathedral and the grandeur of the Renaissance noble families' homes, the breathtaking view of the bay, and the winding alleys harboring cozy cafes, boutiques, and heritage hotels. Now, old towns tend to be a common theme in croatain holidays and it's very well justified in places like Sibenik. You see, Sibenik was an important Renaissance hub in Croatia during the 15th and 16th centuries. Many buildings, including the imposing St.James Cathedral, were erected during this period. The triple-nave UNESCO-protected cathedral is particularly stunning as it was built from limestone and white marble originating from the island of Brac. In terms of what else to see, the list goes on. Other attractions include the Duke's Palace, and the Loggia or Town Hall featuring grand pillars with arches, a balustrade terrace, and a full-window front facade. With two more walkable fortresses, St.John's and Barone, you can have a fulfilling day of soaking in history. Because of an American TV series, Croatia has become one of the most focused tourist destinations in the world. In the king of American TV series, Game of Thrones, the capital of the continent of Westeros, King's Landing, was filmed in the southern coastal city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The azure Adriatic Sea and the red roofs of the ancient city walls form a natural painting, beautiful from any angle. If you choose a homestay on the mountain, you can overlook the entire castle, but going up and down the stairs is really tiring. You can stay in Dubrovnik for two days; the city is actually not that big. From Dubrovnik, there are two routes: one going south to Montenegro, about a 5-hour drive to the famous tourist city of Kotor; the other is the northern route I took, heading north along the Croatian coastal cities. Additionally, to the northeast of the city, you can go to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also a famous tourist city. After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Croatia occupied most of the coastline, hence the nickname 'Coastal Frenzy'. When taking the bus north, you will pass through Neum, the only coastal city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where police will come on board to check passports, and it will be over soon, making you feel sorry for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The northern route is Dubrovnik—Split—Trogir half-day tour—Zadar—fly to Pula—Rovinj, then take a car to the capital Zagreb, and then you can go to Koper in Slovenia, or Trieste in Italy, the latter being a larger city, recommended by the ticket seller for me to stay. On the last day of Ducheng, I took the car to the new city and started the road of self-driving. Ducheng-split this section, the coastal D8 road, which is known as one of the most beautiful roads, will not only cross the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also pass through the two real-life scenes of the game. From the highest point on the winding mountain road that Ducheng self-driving, overlooking the entire Ducheng is super stunning, the Adriatic Sea shining in the sun is shining, showing different shades depending on the light. The blue, I feel that the photo can't shoot the beauty of it half! This is the most beautiful coastal road along the coastline of Croatia, stretching from north to south.
