Beaches and shores
St. John's Island, known as Qi Zhang Shan in the early days, is an island off the southern coast of Singapore. A former prison, this sprawling hill-shaped island now offers swimming coral beaches and shady promenades, providing Singaporeans with an escape from the hustle and bustle. There are no car roads on the island, sheep intestines trails all over the island, there is a football field and two basketball courts, and there is an artificial lake (Swimming Lagoon) on the north side of the island for tourists to play and swim. It is also the location of the Tropical Marine Science Institute. . Here you can take a dip in the lagoon, walk among the colorful corals, enjoy a delicious picnic with family and friends, and of course, soak up the sun on the beach, hike the island or play a fun game of football The game is also a good choice, it is an ideal place for vacation and leisure.

Singapore Fun Island!
St. John Island
Currently, there's no interesting place to go for the clean and great beach with resort like feel. So the only option is to go all the way to an island. It's part of Singapore (interestingly, Singapore has 63 islands!);
Take the ferry from Marina South Pier and it cost $18/ticket.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Walking around the island, bring your own bicycle or rent
- Discover clean and blue beach
- Explore in nature
- Visit the Marine Laboratory
TIPS
- Bring mosquito/insect repellent (not recommended patch type)
- Sun screen / beach gear (if you plan to tanned or play in the beach)
- Bring your own food because there is no food available even vending machine!
- Don't drink too much water because the toilet is so far, only one toilet available for changing/shower
- Bring your own tent or equipment for picnic (you can do fishing too)

Singapore's dream island | St. John's Island 🏝️
My dears, when you come to Singapore, you must visit St. John’s Island! This small island hidden in the South China Sea is a real-life paradise.
📍It can be reached by boat in 30 minutes from Marina South Pier. As soon as you step onto the island, the hustle and bustle of the city is immediately forgotten, and all you can see are the coconut trees, blue sea and blue sky🌴
The beach on the island is a major attraction, the sand is fine and white, the sea water is clear, and under the sunshine, it is as beautiful as an oil painting. Find a place to lie down in the shade, feeling the gentle sea breeze, the comfort is beyond words.
Hiking enthusiasts should not miss the island's nature trails. Walking along the winding path, you can encounter various tropical plants along the way, and if you are lucky, you can even see cute little lizards. Climb up to the observation deck on the top of the mountain and overlook the entire island. The view is simply amazing!
There is also a camping site here. Lying in the tent at night and falling asleep to the sound of waves is both romantic and unique. St. John's Island is a hidden gem in Singapore. It is the perfect place for you to relax and explore nature. Hurry up and get together with your friends for a wonderful island adventure #SingaporeAttractions

Rare people choose Saint John's Island 🏝️🇸🇬
#winhkflight
Saint John's Island also known as St John's is an island in the Straits of Singapore located 6.5 km off the southern coast of Singapore. With an area of 0.41 km², it is the largest of the Marine Park islands which also include the Sisters' Islands and Pulau Tekukor.
St John’s Island formerly housed a quarantine station for cholera cases detected among immigrants in the late 19th century and starting from 1901, victims of beri-beri were also brought to the island. By 1930, the island gained world recognition as a quarantine centre screening for Asian immigrants and pilgrims returning from Mecca.
The quarantine station was eventually also used to house victims of other diseases, such as leprosy. When mass immigration was closed in the mid-20th century, the island was used to house a penal settlement and also a drug rehabilitation centre, but all that has changed now into something totally different!
You will need to purchase the tickets for ferry departs Marina South Pier. $15 for each island (there are 3). You can purchase online too. Make sure you check the schedule so you don’t miss any ferry!
I want to travel to Hong Kong to get on their cruise!

Visit the former quarantine camp and penal colony
📝 Singapore Travelogue part14: St. John's Island 📝
🏝️🏝️🏝️🏝️
St. John's Island (St. John Island & Lazarus Island) is a small island to the south of Singapore, about 6.5 kilometers from the main island of Singapore. It can be reached by boat from Marina South Pier, with about 4/5 boat trips per day.
🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️
The development history of the island can probably be traced back to 1901, when it was first established as a quarantine transit station for cholera immigrants. Later, it became a penal colony and a drug rehabilitation center, carrying a bit of a mysterious and dark attribute.

However, those dark pasts belong to yesterday. Today, St. John's Island is a leisure and holiday resort, at most used as a base for military training/team building. But when there's no one around, wandering around the dormitories on the island, you can still faintly feel the atmosphere of the former quarantine camp 😂

Travel together.
Singapore is a diverse country that excels in tourism, cuisine, and shopping. Especially for Chinese people, coming here feels like coming home.
Singapore has regions that blend multiple races and cultures, modern office buildings and shopping centers. There are over 70 world-class hotels, 18-hole golf courses, and many tourist attractions. Entertainment and cultural activities are also abundant, ranging from classical symphonies and Chinese opera to jazz and ballet; from Rolling Stones performances to the latest Hollywood movies, everything is available here.
No matter if you are a sports enthusiast or prefer leisure and entertainment, Singapore has many sports venues or activities suitable for you to choose from. You can rent a sailboard in East Coast Park, and mountain biking can be done on the eight-kilometer-long dedicated bike path. You can swim on the sandy beach, try many seafood restaurants near the beach, and fly kites on the beach. Taking a ferry to swim and relax on St. John's Island and Kusu Island is the best way to rest after a busy day of work. Riding horses on the most beautiful horse track in Asia at the Singapore Turf Club or watching a polo match at the Singapore Polo Club are activities that tourists are interested in when visiting Singapore. Hotels and nearby public sports facilities also have golf courses and tennis courts. Overall, Singapore is a country full of tempting charm.
