Daisen Park in Sakai City, Japan: A Hidden Gem
Let me tell you about a fantastic hidden gem in Japan—Sakai City's Daisen Park!
Located in Daisencho, Sakai Ward, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, Daisen Park is a place rich in history and charm. It's also quite easy to get to from Osaka. Just take the Kintetsu Line to Sakai Station, and then transfer to a bus or walk a short distance.
As soon as I entered Daisen Park, I was captivated by its beauty. The park was once the site of the residence of Ryusa Konishi, a wealthy merchant in Sakai City during Japan's Warring States period, so the entire park exudes an air of ancient elegance.
The most striking feature of the park is the huge artificial lake. The water is crystal clear, shimmering in the sunlight, and you can see many lovely koi swimming around. The lake is surrounded by a variety of plants. In spring, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the pink petals fall onto the lake's surface, creating a picturesque scene. Strolling along the lakeside, taking in the surrounding scenery, is truly relaxing.
In addition to the artificial lake, there is also a beautiful garden within the park. The garden's architecture is very traditional, with quaint tea houses and pavilions. Walking through the garden feels like traveling back in time to ancient Japan. The garden's layout is also exquisite, with rockeries, flowing water, and greenery complementing each other, creating a poetic atmosphere.
Daisen Park also has a special historical and cultural exhibition area. Here, you can learn about the history of Sakai City and the life of Ryusa Konishi. The exhibition area contains many precious artifacts and materials, which gave me a deeper understanding of Japanese history and culture.
Oh, and there's a small zoo in the park too! It houses a variety of adorable animals, such as rabbits, monkeys, and peacocks. Children can get up close and personal with the animals, which is a lot of fun. I saw many children excitedly feeding the animals, creating a heartwarming scene.
At night, Daisen Park takes on a different look. The park's lights illuminate the entire area, making it even more beautiful. The artificial lake, in particular, looks even more enchanting under the lights.
