[2025 Lisbon Attraction] Travel Guide for San Pedro Alcantara Observation Deck (Updated Jun)

It was built nearly 200 years ago and is located at one end of the Upper Town, near the Glória Elevator. It features fountains, gardens, and statues. Spread over two floors, it is always bustling and filled with artists. The highlights are the views of the castle, Alfama, Tagus, and Baixa, all illuminated by the afternoon sun. At certain times of the year, the sunlight reflects off the windows of the houses and illuminates the viewpoint. The tiled map near the railing was created in 1952 by Swiss artist Fred Kradolfer, who moved to Lisbon, and marks the visible landmarks of the area. It's also a free attraction, much better than many paid ones!

After your climb through the old town Lisbon you may eventually arrive to Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara. Well, you can of course go there using the Calçada de Glória funicular (first pic) or taxi but as I climbed there I was super happy to find a place to eat a little and have a break (and of course fresh drinks). The place is practically a terrace that is built to a place from where you can have a great view over the city of Lisbon. You also have a little market and a few restaurants there so you can easily buy some food and refreshments. Some artist are there selling their artwork and the overall atmosphere is very relaxing. If you feel you want to stay a little longer you can try to get yourself a bench and even enjoy a picnic there. It’s a place for peace of mind. It’s a place to relax a little. I have been there before and I will surely go again when nearby. I enjoy beautiful parks and this one is one of the best ones in Lisbon in my opinion. #lisbon #lisboa #portugal #park #urbanexplorer

#springitinerary During my recent vacation in Portugal I took some time to go all the way to the San Pedro alcantara observation deck. I would say this was definitely worth it because the views I got was so amazing and pretty. Catching a Birds Eye view of the city, it felt so thrilling and nice. A few tourists were here too and can take some nice shots. It’s quite a steep walk so be careful but you’ll be rewarded with a pretty and nice view at the end. Highly recommended if you are in Portugal and have some spare time

Stop by at Time Out market - cool spot but you don't need to eat there, save your appetite for another place, just a sneak peek. Climb up your way to a small secret gem - Praça das Flores. Here is a magic place for lunch/brunch - Magnolia bistro. If you think the brunch is not deserved yet, climb further up to Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantra. Cute small shops on the way will keep your curiosity and move you further. Take some pictures of city panorama and go back to Praça das Flores. NOW the lunch/brunch is well deserved and you can also reward yourself with a glass of wine. Wander back to the center or hop on a famous tram #28. Get lost in Chiado district and suddenly find yourself at Elevador de Santa Justa. Then continue to gorgeous Rossio square and admire Lisboa Rossio railway station later.
