Mountain climbing
Sanbangsan is a bell-shaped volcanic body in the shape of a volcano, standing on the plains in the southwest of Jeju Island. There are weathering caves and cliff cones on the 150-300m high cliffs on the south side of Yongduam. At 150m above sea level, there are Shanfang Grottoes with a length of about 10m, width and height of about 5m. As a sea cave, you can see the The beautiful sea is one of the ten scenic spots in Yingzhou. On the left of the entrance of Sanbang Mountain is Sanbang Temple, and on the right there are two temples, Bomen Temple and Jijie Treasure Cave. On the roadside in front of Shanfang Mountain is the Langyantai, which was a tool used in ancient times to convey urgent news about politics and military affairs by using bonfires or smoke. There is basically no difference with the beacon tower. Lang Yantai is mainly used on the seaside, while the beacon tower is mainly built on the top of the mountain in the inland. There is smoke during the day to send messages, and bonfires are used to transmit it at night. It is presumed that Langyantai was built in the 19th year of King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty and was a tool used to defend against Japanese pirates at that time. It was destroyed in the Korean War in 1950, and now only the main stone pillar of Langyantai can be seen. Due to the high altitude of Sanbang Mountain and its proximity to the sea, the top of the mountain is surrounded by clouds and mist all year round, making it difficult to overlook the surrounding seascape. Strange climatic phenomena are also seen along the foothills, giving the volcano even more unique character. From a botanical point of view, it also has important value. On the top of the mountain, there are evergreen broad-leaved forest trees such as thick cypress, pine, chestnut, and crow. The woods are dense, and various rare plants grow on the rock walls.

In Jeju there are many hiking trails and some of these trails are not so easy. If you are just starting out then better stick with the amateur trail. I am not so adventurous in hiking so I only do the easy trail like Sanbangsan Yongmeori Geo Trail. A nice trail to hike in a windy weather and I also get to find many nice spots with Sanbangsan mountain. This trail is also right beside the sea and there are proper benches at the resting stops. You can come back to Jeju and try out other hiking trail and join the ahjussi and ahjumma.

I love my daily walks along the beach here in the chilly weather so that I will not be sweating. There are more locals here than tourists. But they are Koreans from outside Jeju taking their vacation in Jeju. Jeju is a popular seaside vacation place for the Koreans. Now Singapore also can fly direct to Jeju but there are limited flights available. I was supposed to fly direct to Jeju but my flight got postponed so I had to fly into Seoul and took a domestic flight in. When there are bad weather in Jeju, the airport will stop functioning and all flights will be grounded.

I hiked over the mountain trail and went towards the seaside trail and there are many costal rock formation along the seaside trail too. My end point is the red lighthouse at the end and there are many lighthouses in Jeju. Jeju is a coastal city with unique volcanic rocks. Some of the local cosmetic are made from these volcanic rocks. This also explain why the abundance of seafood in Jeju and their free divers are mostly ladies. The lighthouse is a great spot for photos and the sunset early in Jeju during my visit. I had a great time.

The first impression of Sanbangsan, which I met while walking the Olle Trail last year, was huge and overwhelming, perhaps because it was accompanied by a sunset and the sea. My second encounter with Sanbangsan was a painting that came through the window of Borosureum. A picture that changes every day.
On the first day, the painting was vivid like a painting, with the green Sanbangsan contrasting with Jeju's blue sky. The next morning, the bright colors disappeared, and Sanbangsan was filled with water. Usually, I feel bad when the weather is bad during my travels, but that day was different. It was because of the thought, "This is the real Jeju!"
The view that captures the ever-changing Jeju Island, depending on the weather, the amount of light, and the season, is the most attractive point of this accommodation. However, if you look closely, there are many things to enjoy.
The woody scent that resembles the Jeju wind subtly spread in the room, welcome tea prepared with Jeju's mandarin oranges in a handcrafted cup, natural soap made from Sanbangsan, the sound of crackling fire in the pub and outdoor garden where travelers can relax, and even a refreshing beer room service that rewards a tired day of travel.

so you can take plenty of pictures without people in them📸

#explorer Sanbangsan Mountain is a trachytic tuff lava dome connected to the sedimentary layer of the Yongmeori Coast in the coast of Sagye-ri, Andeok-myeon. It is a bell-shaped tholoid that stands tall in the plains of southwest Jeju, allowing it to be seen from anywhere in the area. It is encircled by Ilju Road, which connects Moseulpo Port and Hwasun-ri.
Well-maintained stairs are available so that tourists can climb up to Sanbanggulsa Grotto, which stands at the southern face of Namsa-myeon. If you wish to go up to the summit of Sanbangsan Mountain, you can use the trail behind Sanbangsan Mountain, which leads to Deoksu-ri, Yonghae-dong.
