Wisteria, Azaleas, and Fresh Greenery at Sankeien Garden in Yokohama🪻
I visited Yokohama's Sankeien Garden, a place I frequent every season🍃
This is one of Yokohama's top spots for relaxation!
In the beautifully maintained Japanese garden, various flowers bloom each month. During late April to May, the wisteria and azaleas are in full bloom and look stunning💐
The purple wisteria has a delightful fragrance that seems to draw everyone in, making it hard to resist🤭
Since the paths are gravel and can be a bit tricky to walk on, I recommend wearing sneakers or comfortable walking shoes instead of heels👟

I hope this can serve as a reference for next year ☺️
By the way, the date of entry was April 5, 2025.
Sankeien Garden is filled with cherry trees, creating a truly breathtaking sight! The reflection of the cherry blossoms on the pond was particularly memorable.
For those feeling energetic, climbing the three-story pagoda is highly recommended!
There are various tea houses scattered around, so try to find your favorite spot~

Lunch at Sankeien Garden @Sankeien Garden, Yokohama 🍡
A garden in Yokohama! I went to the Japanese garden Sankeien 🪴
I went there in early March, so the cherry blossoms hadn't bloomed yet, but the plum blossoms and camellias were in bloom.
I had lunch at Sankeien Saryo, located in the center of the garden!
I had Sankei-wan and fried eggplant udon!
It was really delicious because you can eat a little bit of each flavor. ✨
The three-colored dango and mitarashi dango were also very soft and delicious, so I was able to spend a relaxing time. 🍃

The many faces of the Japanese garden - Sankeien - @ Yokohama
This is a traditional Japanese garden in Yokohama that opened in 1906!
This park was landscaped by businessman and tea master Hara Sankei,
and has a traditional Japanese house, making it a perfect spot to visit when wearing a kimono for Shichi-Go-San and pre-wedding photo shoots
We recommend taking a bus from Yokohama Station 🚌
💞Reasons why we recommend it: A garden where you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn 🌸🍁

[Kanagawa Prefecture] A Japanese garden built by the great modern businessman, Sankei Hara!
Sankeien Garden is Yokohama's best Japanese garden.
Modern businessman Hara Sankei used his own money to create this vast garden, which is the size of four Tokyo Domes.
Hara Sankei was a businessman, tea master, man of letters, and arts expert, and he was also a patron of young artists and a collector of antiques.
He was unable to bear the sight of old buildings falling into disrepair around the country, so he collected them and moved them to Sankeien Garden.
He designed the garden design himself, taking advantage of the natural topography of the area, and created a garden unique to Sankei.
In spring, Sankeien Garden is known as a famous spot for cherry blossoms, lotus flowers in summer, and autumn leaves in autumn.
The "autumn leaves illumination" held for a limited time is also wonderful.
The symbol of Sankeien Garden, the "three-story pagoda" towering over the large pond, the "Choushukaku" which is only open to the public during the autumn leaves season, the former Tenzui-ji Temple Kotobuki Pagoda surrounded by a carpet of ginkgo trees and associated with Hideyoshi, the "Rinshunkaku" which was a villa built by the Kishu Tokugawa family, and the imposing "Gomon" at the entrance to the inner garden.
Even though it is located in fashionable Yokohama, I enjoyed a stroll through the charming gardens reminiscent of the ancient capital of Kamakura.
