I've been to Sanya 9 times, and each time was a new experience. I know Sanya like the back of my hand. This post is full of useful tips, no ads. If you're planning a trip to Sanya, make sure to save this post! 🚇 Transportation Don't rush to get a taxi when you arrive in Sanya. There are airport buses at Exit 5 that go directly to the city center. If you have a lot of luggage, go to the parking lot on the 3rd floor opposite Exit 7 to get a ride-hailing car. The drivers are quick to accept orders, so you don't have to worry about not getting a car. 📆 Travel planning If it's your first time in Sanya, don't try to visit all the attractions in one day! The attractions in Sanya are scattered, so it's best to visit one area at a time. Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, Yalong Bay, and Haitang Bay each have their own unique charm. Take your time to enjoy the relaxing island atmosphere. If you want to take a beautiful aerial photo of the Nanhai Guanyin statue from the plane, choose a window seat on the left side in the last five rows when checking in. 🏨 Accommodation Choose a hotel in Sanya Bay or Dadonghai. These areas are convenient for transportation, have many attractions nearby, and are lively at night. There are hotels in all price ranges, so you can find one that fits your budget. 🌤 Weather The weather in Sanya is changeable, with temperatures usually between 25 and 32 degrees. Sometimes it's sunny with strong UV rays, and sometimes it rains briefly. Make sure to protect yourself from the sun by wearing a hat and sunscreen, and bring an umbrella just in case. 🎈 Attractions • Yanoda Rainforest: A must-visit! However, the waves at Haitang Bay are too strong for swimming. If you're looking for a beach with fine sand, go to Clearwater Bay in Lingshui. • Islands: Wuzhizhou Island, West Island, and Boundary Island each have their own charm. Wuzhizhou Island is more expensive, but has a wide range of water activities and facilities. West Island is a fishing village with a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing vacation. Boundary Island offers close encounters with marine animals and the chance to feed stingrays, making it a great choice for families. • Coconut Dream Corridor: This 20 km long stretch has several great photo spots. #timetotravel Sanya Bay is a long stretch of bay which is accessable to the public. The sand and the water are quite decent. We stayed at a resort by this bay so we always had a nice walk here late afternoon until the evening. However, you need to know that there are no sun beds here unlike dadonghai and yalong bay, you just need to bring your own towel. There are a lot of hotel options here but bear in mind that Sanya bay is quite far from most of the attractions but it is the nearest bay to the airport. Who knew Sanya Bay Beach was so nice?! Whenever we had heard of recommendations for places to go or stay while visiting Sanya, all we heard was Yalong Bay, Houhai or Dadonghai. But for the first few days of our vacation, we actually chose to stay close to the airport at a hotel in Sanya Bay, and we’re pleasantly surprised by the beach we experienced! Walking just a few meters down from our hotel across the road, we found a quiet little spot to rest and there was next to no one around us! It felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves! The sand was soft (but very very hot midday), there were plenty of palm trees to rest under for shade and the water was so nice and warm. I would be more than happy to stay in this area again. #gooutside

Sanya bay is a long stretch of beach, the West End of which is currently closed and has some construction. The vast majority of the beach is open and it is exactly what I want in a beach. Kilometers of clean flat sand with lines of palm trees giving shady spots for relaxing. There are some toilet blocks for changing with foot washing stations but other amenities like shops are very limited, so bring food and drink with you. The beach was very quiet and didn't seem to have any lifeguards but there are no restrictions on swimming and the waves were great so we had a really fun time swimming around and then relaxing on the beach for hours. In my opinion this is the best beach in Sanya, away from crowds and salespeople. Perfect hidden spot to relax in the sun. #beachlife

Found a really nice area where there were many hostels/hotels and streets that reminded me of Greece in Sanya Bay! Once the didi drove my friend and I near the restaurant, I instantly was feeling like I was in Greece! It was definitely needed and a good change of scenery! There are a lot of little shops, cafes and restaurants near by. My friends and I went to the Greek - Musaka Restaurant. Being Serbian, my mom makes the best musakas so I was definitely excited to taste this one! It wasn’t so bad! 😋 We ordered a lot of food that night, it was a lot of fun! Sanya Bay is often called the “Hawaii of China”! It’s sprawling beaches, mountainous terrain and lush tropical forests are definitely reminiscent of Hawaii. Sanya is located on Hainan Island in the South China Sea. There are several areas to explore like Yalong Bay, Sanya Bay and Dadonghai Beach. The seafood on the island is some of the best I’ve ever tasted! If you are a hot pot fan I highly recommend trying Hainan style hot pot! Sanya has something for the whole family! It was a big surprise to find this hidden gem right around the corner. It felt like a true tropical island experience to eat delicious and flavourful South East Asian dishes with a Hainan flair. This restaurant is quite popular and we had to wait around half an hour for a table. The service was good and all the staff members were very professional and kept our water glasses full at all times. This area of Sanya Bay is just the best. Way less people on the beach. Blessed with a beautiful first day of 2022, we decided to visit Sanya Bay for some tanning and swimming. 🏖 After enjoying the beach, meeting locals and having our portraits drawn for 50 RMB we decided to take the scenic route and walk over the bridge and along the ocean to Phoenix Island.☀️ Once we arrived at Phoenix Island, we enjoyed a helicopter ride which was quick but a great experience. The pilots were very professional, competent and made us feel at ease.🚁 I paid 100 RMB for 2 minutes in the air however, their prices are usually 298 RMB for the ride but I met a salesperson on the beach who offered it for 100 per person so I'd suggest you do the same if you wanna save some bucks. 😁 Oh, by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR! 😊 #happynewyear #merrychristmastoeveryone

Sanya Bay is the closest beach to the center of the city. This beach is not as popular with foreigners as Yalong Bay and Dadonghai, mainly you will see only local people on the beach. The beach is about 17 km long and it is covered with fine soft sand. The entrance to the water is shallow without rocks which is perfect for families with kids. The artificial Phoenix Island is located on the bay and it’s connected to the land by the bridge. There are many toilets on the beach. They are clean and can be used for changing clothes. There are plenty of restaurants, food courts, fruit stalls and souvenir shops near the beach. Sanya bay is located not far from the airport and it will take no more than 15 minutes to get there by taxi. #beaches

Me and my girlfriend spent a wonderful day at Sanya bay beach 🏖. The view was wonderful, sky so blue even though it wasn’t that sunny. The Sanya bay beach is the perfect place for photo lovers as the beach is full of amazing photo spots and there are a lot of photoshops around where by you can book your photo shoot session… *The disadvantage of this beach is that, Sanya bay beach has some type of small bugs or insects around that bites, quite similar to mosquitos the bitten area will inch for some time.
