Seimei Shrine in Kyoto - A must-visit for anime fans!
Before going to Japan, a friend happened to mention some Japanese legends, and when Abe no Seimei was brought up, I looked up information online and found the Seimei Shrine, so of course, I had to go and see it.
Abe no Seimei was a 'Onmyoji' during the Heian period, mainly in charge of divination, rituals, and other activities. It is said that he had powerful magical abilities and even created the pentagram 'Kikyo Seal', which is known as the strongest symbol for subduing demons and evil spirits.
The Seimei Shrine was built from his former residence, and there are so many things to see inside, such as the Hime Bridge, Shikigami stone statues, Seimei Well, Sun and Moon Pillars, Yakuyoke Peach, Sacred Tree, and so on. Especially after watching the 'Onmyoji' anime or movie, visiting the shrine gives a different feeling.
I find their amulets particularly beautiful, and I bought many. Before leaving, you can also visit 'Kikyo-An', which is a recognized shop of the Seimei Shrine, selling products related to the shrine, satisfying all anime fans.
