Hi, welcome back to my trip post! After arriving in Samarkand, we booked a Yandex ride to our hotel, Aisha Registan (RM150 per night). The hotel is located opposite the Registan building, and it's only a 5-minute walk to Registan. After checking in, we went to Shah-i-Zinda, our first attraction to visit. Shah-i-Zinda is a world-famous example of a historically significant site that has been continuously developed over the centuries. Over 1,000 years ago, it began with a single religious monument, Shah-i-Zinda. This stunning necropolis, one of the most renowned sites in Samarkand, is known for its intricate tile work and rich history, dating back to the 14th century. The entrance fee was RM31.50, and you can pay using a credit card or cash at the counter. Getting There - It is Easily accessible by taxi or walking from the city center of Samarkand. Food & Restaurants - There are a handful of cafes and restaurants in the vicinity~ They can offer a taste of Uzbek cuisine and international dishes. My favorite dish to try is the green noodles which is an Uzbek dish. Shopping - Inside the tourist site there are 2-3 souvenir shops but they are less reasomably priced. Nearby there are some markets for unique souvenirs, including traditional crafts, ceramics, and spices.

My global journey has brought me to Central Asia, starting from Horgos in Xinjiang, crossing Kazakhstan to reach Uzbekistan, a place of immense awe in our itinerary. 🕌️ The 2600-year-old city, Samarkand It can be said to be the essence of Uzbekistan, especially the Shah-i-Zinda mausoleum complex, which feels like stepping into a scene from 'One Thousand and One Nights'. Walking along the avenue of tombs, with beautiful blue 🕌️ on both sides, every angle is astonishing ❗️ To avoid the crowds, we arrived at 8 am, bought tickets, and entered, climbing a short flight of stairs. The blue doors that appeared and disappeared behind the arches attracted me, until the top, where a whole exotic world opened up. The blue-green tiles were delicately laid on top, and above each door lintel was a carefully designed scroll, each door unique in shape. We looked up at these tall and elegant buildings, stunned. Walking straight to the deeper parts, passing through different tombs, we reached the highlight, and what surprised me even more was looking back at the path we came from, seeing the locals with headscarves on the road, a scene that I will remember for a very long time!! If Samarkand is the essence of tourism in Uzbekistan, then the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis is the essence of Samarkand. Walking through the avenue of tombs, the blue tombs on both sides are spectacular and breathtaking, as if you are walking in the mysterious and ancient stories of 'One Year and One Night'. But if you want to immerse yourself more deeply in the experience of 'One Thousand and One Nights', here are some tips: 1: Time Suggestion: It's best to visit before 8 a.m. when the light is the best and there are fewer tourists; or after 6 p.m. when the light is also good, but there will be more visitors. The day ticket allows for unlimited entries on the same day, so you can visit at both times to see the difference. 2: Clothing Suggestion (Important): Highly saturated local ethnic style clothing is highly recommended, and women can take beautiful photos with any pose. If you don't have your own ethnic clothing, there are local style robes available for free at the entrance for female tourists to cover up, and you can borrow one according to your preference. The green robe in the picture was borrowed by a companion at the entrance, and instantly transformed the wearer into an assassin from 'One Year and One Night'. 3: Photo Spot Suggestion: Avenue of Tombs: There are several good spots here, the first picture is taken at the second tomb after coming up the stairs, and you can also adjust the angle according to the light to find your own spot. Located at the intersection of China and the Middle East on the Silk Road, it is also known as the "place where cultures meet". 🧿The word "Samarkand" in Sogdian means "stone city", perhaps because of this, it has such a magnificent blue architectural wonder. The architectural style is characterized by blue mosaic, gold thread decoration, and geometric three-dimensional structure, which deeply influenced the urban planning and architectural development of many distant regions. 🧿Xia Yi Shinda Tomb Group Xia Yi Xinda, meaning "King of Eternal Life", is a tomb complex for the relatives and nobles of Emperor Timur, including a magnificent tomb avenue and forty-four tombs. 🧿Registan Square It is the ancient central square of the city, surrounded by three Islamic school buildings built in the 15th to 17th centuries. 🧿Gur-Emir Mausoleum Built between 1403 and 1404, it is the tomb of Tamerlane, the Turco-Mongol conqueror, whose architectural style influenced Mughal architecture, including the Taj Mahal.

Samarkand, besides the iconic Registan, also has many ancient buildings worth exploring. ShakhiZinda mausoleum complex is another must-see place in Samarkand. In the 7th century, KusamIbnAbbas, the cousin of Muhammad, came to preach in the river area but was killed. Hundreds of years later, Timur rebuilt the tomb of this preacher, and his heirs built several tombs around Abbas's tomb, forming a magnificent tomb avenue. Various styles of decorations are displayed in front of you, like entering a mythical kingdom. Second Traffic: It takes about half an hour to walk from Registan Square. Along the way, you will pass by souvenir street, Bibi-Khanym Mosque, Hazrat Khizr Mosque and other attractions. You can visit them all on the way. If you don't want to walk, you can also take a taxi directly. Tips: Not only tourists, but also locals often come for pilgrimage. So if you want fewer people, you can wake up early, take a taxi and go there, and then sweep back in the opposite direction towards Registan Square.

Walking into the mausoleum of Xia Xinda, it seems to be in the world of the thousand and one nights. This is a gorgeous mausoleum boulevard with forty-four mausoleums, each decorated with beautiful tiles. The mausoleum was built around the tomb of Abbas. He was the first to preach in Central Asia, and later known as Xia Xinda, meaning the king of eternal life. This is one of the most beautiful places in Uzbekistan, Samarkand, and it is hard to associate people with the grave.
