The Shanghai Sports Museum's New Year's Eve exhibition "Sports Culture Theme Exhibition in Dunhuang Murals" is currently on display on the first floor of the museum. The exhibition focuses on the sports elements in Dunhuang culture. Through the games, entertainment, competitions, health care and other aspects in the murals, one can experience the cultural entertainment and other lifestyles thousands of years ago and the ancient people's concepts of health and wellness. Built in 1928, it was originally the "Western Young Men's Christian Association," a clubhouse for entertainment and sports activities built by Americans Fitch and Rockefeller for Western youth. The building has a unique shape, blending the American Arts and Crafts style, modeled after the Reliance Building in Chicago. Its exterior and decorations have a slightly classical style, and the concave-convex design gives the building a horseshoe shape.
