A Hidden Gem: The Journey to Shenyu Island If I'd rate Qixianling 6/10, then Shenyu Island definitely deserves an 8. While it lacks distinctive landscapes or exciting activities, it offers exceptional emotional value—summed up in two words: pleasantly strollable. Here's why: 1. Senior & child-friendly: No strenuous climbing needed. The boardwalks are mostly flat with just 4-5 occasional steps. 2. Water brings vitality: The crystal-clear lake shimmers, mirroring blue skies, white clouds, and lush greenery—a truly soothing sight. 3. Lush tropical vegetation: From low shrubs to towering trees, vibrant bougainvillea to twisting vines, it's a botanical wonderland showcasing nature's ingenious designs. This natural oxygen bar makes you wish it could be relocated up north! 4. Cultural depth: The island intrigues with history. Shenyu Academy houses the Jade Art Museum, displaying dozens of priceless jade masterpieces—each a peerless heritage piece for history buffs to admire. 5. Most importantly: Serenity. Thanks to its niche appeal, even holidays avoid crowds. Here, you can truly slow down—bask on benches, soak in nature's tranquil beauty. At nearly ¥100 for adult tickets including boat fare, it's not the most budget-friendly. But considering its charming scenery, this hidden gem comes highly recommended.

I've always heard that there is a little Jiangnan in Hainan, hidden between Baoting and Wuzhishan. Today, on my day off, I drove here to check in and wander around. As soon as I entered the scenic area, I was greeted by lush greenery. The forest plank road is clearly a product of time and money, reflecting a craftsman's quality. There are many tropical botanical wonders in the area, a treasure trove of tropical plants, truly a great place for kids to learn about botany. Emerald Lake is beautiful, and it feels great to take a boat ride on the popular big red boat. It's not hot at all, nor is it sunny. Just bring mosquito repellent, and try to wear sun-protective clothing, for both mosquito and sun protection. The trip was worthwhile. Next time, I'll stay overnight. I've heard that the hotel on Shenyu Island was designed by Aman designers. Tsk tsk, looking forward to it!
