I made the right choice with this affordable hotel in Shenzhen! I'll be back.
"Sheraton Shenzhen Nanshan Hotel Review"
I went on a business trip to Shenzhen before the Mid-Autumn Festival. IHG's Q3 promotion hadn't started yet, but Marriott's had, so I chose a Marriott hotel. After some research, I found that Sheraton Shenzhen Nanshan Hotel was highly recommended, so I decided to give it a try.
1. Basic Information
1. Location: The hotel is located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, near the University Town. However, if you want to go to the central area of Nanshan, such as Shenzhen Bay, it takes 20–30 minutes by taxi.
2. Time: The hotel opened in 2019, so it's relatively new.
3. Height: The hotel has 23 floors, which is not particularly high.
2. Check-in Experience
(1) Pros
1. Service: When I checked in, I was told that I could have two pieces of clothing ironed for free every day, which was very thoughtful.
2. Facilities: The room is equipped with a TOTO smart toilet with basic functions such as seat heating and cleaning. Although it doesn't have an automatic lid, it's still very good.
3. Facilities: The room also has a Laifen hair dryer, which is much better than those in many hotels. It's very easy to use.
4. Dining: Platinum members and above can have breakfast in the lounge, which is less crowded and has a nice environment. However, there are some minor issues, which I'll mention below.
(2) Cons
1. Privacy: The hotel is opposite a residential area, and the distance between the two is only about 5 meters. You can see each other clearly through the windows, so there's no privacy when you open the curtains. This is a bit annoying.
2. Dining: The executive lounge has a limited selection of dishes, and there's only one chef. When I went there at 9:30 am on the first day, many hot dishes were already gone and not replenished in time. Even boiling an egg took 5 minutes, which was not a good experience.
3. Service: On the first day, I sent two pieces of clothing for ironing. The next day, I wanted to send more, but I found that the form and bag for clothes hadn't been replenished, so I had to contact the front desk, which was a bit inconvenient.
4. Facilities: The curtains in the room can't be opened or closed automatically, and the Wi-Fi signal in the bathroom is very weak, which is inconvenient.
I was too busy this time, so I only stayed for two days and didn't have time to check out the gym and swimming pool. I'll have to try them next time.
Overall, my stay at Sheraton Shenzhen Nanshan Hotel was average. The free ironing service, smart toilet, and good hair dryer were highlights.
