Jumbo-tsuribune Tsurikichi is one of the most unique restaurants we have tried in Osaka. It is located in Shinsekai where there is a famous observation tower called Tsutenkaku. The concept of this restaurant is interesting where you get to catch your own meal with fishing rods and nets provided. You get to choose whether you’d like to have the fish grilled or in a hot pot. Food was pretty good with a huge variety from the menu. We got some fresh squid to grill and once grilled with butter it was delicious. We also ordered homemade tofu, udon, tempura and those were yummy too. Price wise, it wasn’t the cheapest but I guess you are paying for the experience. I would recommend coming here if you’re looking for somewhere fun to dine with family or a group of friends.

Osaka Shinsekai Market: A nostalgic adventure through time 🏮
#Osaka Attractions
Hidden at the foot of Tsutenkaku, Osaka Shinsekai Market is a century-old shopping street that began in the Taisho era. This was once a bustling commercial center, but now it has a strong Showa retro style. Wandering through it, you’ll see red lanterns swaying, vendors selling second-hand clothes, nostalgic items, and the leopard print clothing store that became famous on TV. Every step you take is like stepping into a time tunnel.
In recent years, the market's hawker street project has made the nights lively, with tourists and locals sitting around the stalls and the aroma of barbecue wafting in the air, creating a unique otherworldly atmosphere. Standing here, I feel the warmth of life of ordinary people in Osaka. Those old shops carry stories of the years, which makes people want to stay a little longer and savor this uniqueness.
Access: 3 minutes walk from Ebisucho Station on the Sakaisuji Subway Line or 10 minutes walk from Shin-Imamiya Station on the JR Line

#japantrip #osaka #shinsekai #travel #japan #summer #thingstodo #nightlife
Shinsekai is a magical place to visit after the sun sets, where neon lights, bustling streets, and the scent of street food fill the air. As I wandered through the district, I was drawn to the vibrant energy surrounding Tsutenkaku Tower, the area’s most iconic landmark. The glow of the tower and the retro atmosphere of the district transport you to another time, with its charming mix of old-school Osaka and modern entertainment. Whether you’re indulging in kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) or enjoying a drink at one of the quirky local bars, Shinsekai at night offers a unique and unforgettable experience. It’s the perfect place to dive into Osaka’s lively night scene and get a taste of its rich culture.
