Kyoto Kitashirakawa Ramen Kuiliya
📍Address: Japan〒604-8005 Kyoto, Nakagyo Ward, Ebisucho, 435地二ヒジカタビル 1F
🕰️Business hours: 1100-0100
🏖️Atmosphere/Facilities: A chain ramen restaurant from Kyoto, probably similar to Ohsho, a national delicacy with good quality and low price, with branches all over Kyoto. This time we visited the Kawaramachi Sanjo branch, because it is a whole building, with a large space, many seats, and no need to wait, but the location is a bit crowded. I heard that you will open a store in Taiwan this year. That’s great news!
💞Special recommendation: I ordered the specialty dorsal fin soy sauce ramen with fried rice and dumplings. The amber soup has a rich taste and can be sprinkled with a lot of chopped green onions. The barbecued pork is thin but tender enough, and the noodles are also good. Overall, it is a delicious bowl of ramen. As for the fried rice and fried dumplings that come with the meal, they are actually quite good. At an additional cost of ¥240, it’s a great value and definitely filling.
💰Average consumption per person: ¥1000-2000 yen.

Kyoto Transformation Operation! A guide to tea ceremony and Japanese confectionery
In Kyoto, Japan, carpenters' rulers have measured temples as well as tea bowls, and geishas' belts hide the curves of the eaves of ancient buildings. Next time you turn the bowl while drinking tea, think about how this action is the same as looking at a thousand-year-old temple - you are turning the bowl, and you are seeing time.
🎎 The little tricks in the geisha house
The "Wooden Code" of Hanamikoji
Mysterious wooden lattice windows: The fine lattice windows of the geisha house block the view like blinds. The ancients used this method to protect privacy✨. In the evening, by the Shirakawa River, watch the setting sun shine through the wooden grid, and the light shadows on the ground are like a hopscotch game~
Easter egg of the 300-year-old teahouse: Go to the second floor of "Ichiriki-tei" and look up to find the plum blossom carvings on the roof beams - they were carved by the descendants of the same craftsmen as the lotus capitals of Todai-ji Temple!
Kimono Transformation Guide
Choose a belt pattern: The wavy pattern looks like the curve of the corridor of Katsura Imperial Villa, and the straight pattern looks like the Thousand Torii Gates of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine⛩️
Photo trick: Stand on the steps of the Sanmen Gate of Nanchan Temple and let your wide sleeves hang down to form a "double-wing" effect with the eaves of the temple 📸
🍵 Mini courtyard in the tea house
Tips on tea room design
Deliberately crooked beauty: the pillars in authentic teahouses are not straight! Imitating the natural growth posture of old trees, the floor gap will leave 3 mm to let the wind in with the smell of garden moss🌿
The mystery of the stone road: the stepping stones at the entrance of the teahouse are spaced three steps apart, forcing you to slow down - the "speed bumps" of the Edo period!
Drinking tea brings out the sense of architecture
When turning the tea bowl, the front of the pattern should be away from the host. This rule comes from the tradition that paintings in tea rooms cannot face guests directly🖼️
The cloud relief on the iron teapot has the same arc as the golden phoenix tail on the roof of Kinkakuji Temple☁️
🌸 Japanese confectionery is actually a 3D building model!
Famous Kyoto Scenery in Desserts
"Moss Garden Monaka": The crispy skin is pressed with the dry landscape pattern of Ryoanji Temple, and the chestnut "little stones" will be revealed when the matcha filling is bitten🌰
"Goshoga Yokan": The number of layers is equal to the number of tatami mats in the tea room of Katsura Imperial Villa, and the translucent outer layer looks like the bamboo curtains of a townhouse!
Exploring the secrets of the old shop's kitchen
The red bean paste needs to be left to rise in a pine wood box for 12 hours so that the wood can absorb excess moisture - the same principle that keeps the wooden pillars of ancient temples moisture-proof!
The rhythm of the master sifting the flour with a bamboo sieve is perfectly synchronized with the rhythm of the supporting pillars under the stage of Kiyomizu Temple🎵
🚶♀️ One-day cultural walking route
Morning: See the reflection of Kinkakuji → Learn the tea ceremony technique of turning the bowl
Afternoon: Japanese confectionery DIY → Compare the texture of the dessert with the details of the ancient building
In the evening: Capture the light and shadow of the wooden lattice on Hanami-koji → Find the same pattern on the door curtain of the geisha house and the kimono belt 🎀
