[2025 Jiuzhaigou Attraction] Travel Guide for Shuanglong Lake (Updated May)

| Jiuzhaigou & Huanglong Hiking Guide. 🌟Departing from Chengdu, take the high-speed train to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, then transfer to a shuttle bus or hire a private car to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. Stay overnight in Chuanzhusi or near Jiuzhaigou for easy access to the scenic areas the next day. 🌟Jiuzhaigou Hiking Route: Nuorilang Center Line, Chang Hai direction, and Primeval Forest direction. Check in at Nuorilang Waterfall, Tiger Lake, the Shuanglonghai boardwalk, Reed Lake, and Five Flower Lake. The hike takes about 5 hours. Jiuzhaigou is at a high altitude, so it is recommended to bring a warm jacket, water, and snacks. 🌟Huanglong Scenic Area: Take the cable car up, then a sightseeing bus, and walk to the Five-Color Pool. Hike down from there. Must-see attractions include the Five-Color Pool, Zhengyan Pool, and Bonsai Pool. The entire journey takes about 5 hours, covering approximately 20,000 steps, with a 4.2 km downhill hike. The Huanglong Scenic Area is at a high altitude, and some visitors may experience altitude sickness, so it is recommended to bring oxygen. Also, sightseeing bus tickets need to be booked in advance, as they are limited to 5,000 per day.

Five-Flower Lake – The most famous lake in Jiuzhaigou, with striking turquoise and green hues. 5. Pearl Shoal Waterfall – A magnificent waterfall featured in Journey to the West. 6. Mirror Lake – Best seen in the morning when the water reflects the sky and trees. 7. In Jiuzhaigou National Park, there are several places to see water cascades gushing down the slopes, and one of the places is Huohuahai. To see this, I walked in on the walk board (maybe more than 100 m in length) from Huohuahai bus stop beside the main road to the opposite side of the foothill. The highlight of Huohuahai scenic area was: (1) The spectacular upstream view of the valley from beside the main road (Huohuahai bus stop). (2) Water gushing towards me from the valley, flowing to the under of the walkboard beneath me. (3) View of the colorful lake downstream of Huohuahai from the walkboard. (4) Small water cascades among vegetation right beside the walkboard. The walkboard itself is above the Huohuahai waterfall. I only realise this when I walked further downstream from Huohuahai scenic area, in the Shuanglonghai scenic area, where the said waterfall could be seen from a distance. The lakes in Shuanglonghai scenic area is unique because of the various depth of these lakes, with variety of waterscapes in different colors and shades. The walkway which brought me through the scenic area, were beside the shallows, where interesting lake bottom features could be seen and appreciated. The autumn scenery from the hills around here was seen to boast a variety of autumn foliage colors. The surprise of this scenic area was the beautiful Shuanglonghai waterfall found at the end of the scenic area. This waterfall is unique, with water falling from the irregular fault line, and it felt like a masterpiece design of Nature. I would say that the Shuanglonghai scenic area offered me very diverse waterscape views, which satisfied my sightseeing palette. To get here, it is recommended to get down from the sightseeing bus at Huohuahai bus stop, visit the Huohuahai scenic area, walk back out to the Huohuahai bus stop, then from there walk downstream into Shuanglonghai scenic area. To get out, it is recommended to get on a sightseeing bus downstream at Shuanglonghai bus stop (has toilets), which is beside (a distance from) the Shuanglonghai waterfall. One can also choose to walk further downstream from Shuanglonghai waterfall to the next scenic area (more than 2 km) to continue the sightseeing, and get on to a sightseeing bus from the next bus stop there. #china#travel#naturalwonders#thingstodo There are so many "must-visits", so which one to choose? I recommend to not miss any of them! Make plans to visit the park for more than one day, perhaps 2-3 days. Make plans to return again, during the same season or other seasons. There is so much to explore here, and most importantly, top notch sightseeing can be experienced in Jiuzhaigou.

I took a beautiful picture of my life at sunset in Jiuzhaigou! ! It’s so beautiful when the sun shines on the water at five o’clock! ! The road to Jiuzhaigou is finally open! Let’s arrange a trip to Jiuzhaigou right away! My favorite place is the section of the plank road from the primeval forest to Swan Lake (Pictures 5-7) where there are few people and beautiful scenery! There is also the walking path from Shuzheng Village to Shuanglonghai (Figures 1, 3, and 4). When it is about to sunset around 5 o'clock, the sunlight shining on the water is super beautiful! There weren't many people walking on this stretch! I stayed at the entrance of the scenic spot on Friday, went into the gorge to play for a day on Saturday, and returned to Chengdu on Sunday. The three-day round trip would give me plenty of time! I think one day is quite tight for playing in the ditch. Even though I gave up some scenic spots, I still walked 30,000 steps! The consequence of walking 30,000 steps was that my legs hurt the next day and I walked like a penguin. But it was worth it to see such beautiful scenery!
