I made the 10 hour drive (with a private driver) from Cairo to Siwa Oasis and discovered a land of pure bliss!
Siwa is in the western desert of Egypt and it feels like a completely different place. It has its own people (Berber-speaking Sudanic people) and they live in these really interesting mud houses.
There are a few sights to see in Siwa like the Cleopatra Spring, Fatnas Island (best sunset), Salt lakes (such a cool experience), Oracle Temple, Shali Fortress and many more.
I spent some time with a local guide who told me all about the history and local culture and I enjoyed my relaxed evenings at the boho campsite where you can choose air conditioned cottages or the simple fanned hotels. My camp provided breakfast and dinner which were always delicious and even though I was on my own, I never felt lonely.
There are different types of hotels and camp sites all around Siwa and they offer a calm and peaceful environment. There are also plenty of souvenir stores ones you enter the town side near the fortress and a few local restaurants.

Egypt's secret paradise! The salt lake in Siwa Oasis.
There are many salt lakes of various colors in the city of Siwa near Libya. The salt lakes in the Siwa Oasis have a very high salt concentration, just like the Dead Sea, so you can float easily.
The salt concentration of the lakes is much higher than normal seawater, so your body will float naturally, so even if you can't swim, you don't have to worry. In addition, the salt is rich in minerals and is said to be good for the skin, so you can enjoy a spa-like feeling. It felt really good to float on the salt lakes and look at the blue sky!
Notes:
•Security information: Since Siwa is close to the Libyan border, please check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' overseas safety information before visiting to keep up with the latest security situation.
•Precautions when visiting the salt lakes:
Effects on wounds and mucous membranes: Because the salt concentration is very high, you may feel pain if you have a wound. In addition, it is also very irritating to mucous membranes, so avoid long periods of time in the water.
Splashes on the face: If water gets into your eyes, it will cause severe irritation, so be careful not to splash water on your face.
Avoiding independent activities: In case of an emergency, we recommend that you accompany a guide or driver.
•Clothing and belongings:
Swimsuit and cold weather gear: Since there are no changing rooms, it is convenient to wear a swimsuit and layer your clothes. Also, please bring cold weather gear as your body will get cold after entering the water.
Handling of metal products: It is recommended that you remove metal products such as accessories and watches beforehand to prevent corrosion due to salt.
Footwear: The area around the salt lake is unstable due to salt crystals, so it is easier to walk if you wear footwear such as beach sandals.
•Notes when traveling by bus:
In-car environment: The bus facilities may be old and the seats may be broken.
Toilet breaks: There are several toilet breaks along the way, but there are only a few simple shops.
Cold weather measures: The air conditioning inside the car may be strong, so bring a jacket to stay comfortable.
Siwa Oasis is a place that makes you feel like you're on another planet. The scenery in Egypt is completely different depending on the city, so I couldn't contain my excitement!

Reasons to go to Siwa😎 Siwa Salt Oasis🏝️
#Overseas travel
The reason I drove 10 hours from Cairo to Siwa!! It was to go to the salt lake...!! I happened to see a picture of the salt lake and fell in love with it, so I took the 20-hour round trip by land🤣
Siwa is a place with a quiet charm, unlike Cairo or other cities. There were fewer swindlers, no scams, and no rip-offs, so it was definitely less stressful~
It was December, so the wind was cold and the water was really cold... but I closed my eyes and got in😶 I'm a coward, so it took me ages to get in the water, but it was amazing that my body was floating😳
However, I wasn't feeling well at the time, and I get cold easily, so I couldn't stay in the water for long and had to get out after 1-2 minutes...🤣🥲
The water is really cold, so if possible, I recommend going before December😭
But the color of the water was really pretty at Siwa Oasis🏝️
There are so many lakes everywhere, so you can go to a place where there are no people and play
There's no entrance fee, but you have to pay for a tuk-tuk to get to the lake~

Famous Desert Attraction in Matrouh, Egypt: Siwa Oasis, Perfect for Photos and Leisure Tourism!
Egypt's Matrouh is a globally renowned tourist city, attracting visitors from all over the world. Today, we recommend a famous oasis destination: Siwa Oasis. Located in the western desert of Egypt, this oasis lies in a depression 20-30 meters below sea level in the northwest. It spans 10 kilometers in length and 6.5-8 kilometers in width, with over 2,000 springs. The main crops are olive and date palm trees, and it also produces wheat and legumes. There are several salt lakes that produce table salt, and basket weaving is a local industry. The oasis is connected to Matrouh by road and has multiple trade routes linking it to Mediterranean coastal towns. It features temples and stone tombs from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. It's an excellent spot for photography, learning about history, and sightseeing.

The most beautiful emerald salt lake in the world
We arrived at the village of Siwa🏜️ after a 10-hour bus ride through the desert from Cairo, the center of Egypt.
Siwa Oasis is a quiet and beautiful paradise-like place that appears alone in the desert🏝️✨
Your body floats in the Dead Sea, and the salt crystals sparkle💎
The western edge of Egypt, the very frontier of the frontier, is Siwa Oasis in the desert. A beautiful emerald-green salt lake where you can experience floating like in the Dead Sea🩵
We took a long-distance bus from Cairo and then a tuk-tuk to the site🛺

🇪🇬Swimming in the oasis
The salt flats of Siwa Oasis are truly amazing. The endless white salt plains make you feel like you're on another planet.
Actually, swimming in the salt flats was the reason I came to Siwa, but the water was so clear and the salinity was so high that even if you can't swim, you can just float.
Even if you just walk in, your legs will float!
You have to be careful because the salt crystals are really sharp and you can hurt your feet, and the salinity is really high, so if you get even a little bit of salt water in your eyes, it'll sting really bad ㅠㅜ
The ride was so hard, but it was worth it!

It is said to be the easiest place in the world to lie flat
Coming to the must-visit salt lake in Xiva, it was scheduled for the next morning. Departing from the hotel, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the salt lake here, and there are dozens of them, large and small. You can pick one that looks more pleasing to the eye, and then find one that is easy to get into the water, and then you can have a close encounter.
It is recommended to bring your own swimsuit and slippers or crocs to prevent your feet from being cut by the rocks. Usually, fresh water is also prepared so that you can quickly rinse off with clean water after swimming.
Personally, I feel that if you can swim, the fear when going down will be slightly less, and then I accidentally tasted the water of the salt lake, it's really salty!
The scenic area is open for free, you only need to pay for the round-trip car fare, which is generally 600 for a chartered car per day, just for reference.

Egypt’s best kept secret: Siwa’s salt lakes
One of my favorite spots in Egypt!
Siwa is situated 50 kms. away from the border of Libya and is one of the most isolated places in Egypt; 10 hours away from Cairo by car/bus. Siwa´s salt lakes are not an easy spot to access but are definitely worth the hassle.
The views are out of this world and the scenery is so unique that you won’t regret the time spent to get there.
