[2025 Kota Kinabalu Restaurant] Travel Guide for SOULed OUT Kota Kinabalu (Updated Mar)

Just a short flight of one hour from Kuching, we arrived at our destination for the next few days. We stayed in a lovely spacious apartment at the fabulous Imago Complex which I booked online. It had everything you could possibly want for a very comfortable stay – two huge swimming pools, a gym, kids’ playground, restaurants, cinema and the best shopping centre in the city. To top it all off, the view of the water and golf course from our rental apartment was awesome. The balcony was a favourite spot to sit and take it all in with a cool drink. A favourite hangout just downstairs was a restaurant/cafe/bar called Souled Out, for lunch, dinner or drinks, with live entertainment in the evenings. International cuisine is served here, as well as local fare and the staff are very friendly. If you love cocktails, which I do, then this is the place, as they are reasonably priced and they claim to have the best Mojito in town. It's a perfect spot to visit after shopping, making it very convenient. ✔️ Atmosphere: The place was decorated with Christmas ornaments, giving off a perfect year-end vibe! The big tree and sparkling lights were so beautiful that I lost track of time taking pictures. The Christmas music playing in the background made the atmosphere even more special. ✔️ Menu: I had the Curry Laksa, Portuguese Seafood Rice, and Lamb Chop Shoulder. • The Curry Laksa was delicious with its spicy and creamy coconut milk broth, chewy noodles, and fresh seafood. It truly captured the local essence! • The Portuguese Seafood Rice was packed with seafood and had a slightly spicy flavor, making it incredibly rich in taste. It was completely satisfying, offering a different charm from risotto! • The Lamb Chop Shoulder was tender and juicy, with a unique flavor and herb seasoning that made it absolutely top-notch. ✔️ Live Performance: There are live performances in the evening, enhancing the atmosphere. Enjoying food while listening to live music was so relaxing and healing. ✔️ Service: The staff were very friendly and attentive, making the dining experience pleasant. They also had a Korean menu, so ordering was not difficult at all. SOULed OUT is a perfect restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of dishes, Christmas vibes, and wonderful performances. If you are traveling to Kota Kinabalu, make sure to visit!

They always keep the decorations up to date with the festivities and holiday theme. Food was delicious and suit my taste. Local food, western food are both available. You want big meal or just snacks, they have it here as well. This restaurant located in Imago Mall area, convenient to find parking in the mall itself.
