St. Lawrence Church, also known as Fengshun Church, was established in 1560 and is one of the three oldest churches in Macau. In the old days, people would come to pray for good weather before going to sea. The location of the church used to be a noble residential area, so the church is also beautifully built, and Baroque elements are integrated into the classical European-style architecture. St. Lawrence Church is full of Portuguese colors. It stands on a high platform. Two rows of stone steps on the left and right lead to the door of the church. There are bell towers on both sides. Shake and vibrate when used. The pointed roof of the church is paved with glazed tiles, which are Chinese-style gold-shaped tiles. There is a cross in the gatehouse, and the decorative lines on the walls in yellow and white are simple. St. Lawrence Church is not far from the A-Ma Temple, and is close to Nanwan and Xiwan. It is a good place for locals to date. There are also many bars, restaurants, music fountains, etc. nearby, which are not only suitable for couples, but also a good place for a group of friends and family gatherings.

St. Lawrence's Church
#world HERITAGE#religion
Built by the Jesuits in the mid-16th century, this is one of the three oldest churches in Macao. Its present appearance and scale was acquired in 1846. Situated on the southern coastline of Macao overlooking the sea, families of Portuguese sailors used to gather on the front steps of the church to pray and wait for their return, hence it was given the name: Feng Shun Tang (Hall of the Soothing Winds). The neighbourhood where the church is located used to be fairly wealthy, thus explaining the building's scale and wealth of architectural treatment. It is a neo-classical structure, with subtle Baroque decorative inspirations.#fallingforfall #tripblazers #spooktaculartrip

A Relaxing Day in Macau
Macau, a city that perfectly blends Eastern and Western cultures in terms of lifestyle, art, architecture, and cuisine.
Personally, I love the way of life here. Even within the big city, there are still peaceful corners that retain their traditional ways. Walking around the city allows you to truly experience the lives of the locals.
Here are the places I visited in one day:
- Albergue SCM
- The Ruins of St. Paul's
- Portuguese Street
- Mandarin House
- St. Lawrence’s Church
- Kun Iam Statue by the Sea
- Coloane Village

Quiet Moments: Strolling Through St. Lawrence's Church
Walking into St. Lawrence's Church feels like stepping into another time. The white sanctuary, nestled in a quiet corner, caught my eye with its simple and elegant appearance. The church's exterior glows softly in the sunlight, contrasting beautifully with the blue sky and green trees, exuding an aura of tranquility and solemnity.
Pushing open the heavy wooden doors, the interior space takes my breath away. The high ceiling adorned with exquisite carvings, and the soft sunlight filtering through stained glass, create a stunning play of light and shadow, as if casting a sacred filter over the entire hall. Each row of pews seems to be waiting for a prayer, while the silent statues and decorations on the walls tell stories of centuries-old faith and history.
Standing before the altar, the noise fades away, leaving only a profound sense of peace within. This historic church is not only a sanctuary for the soul but also a witness to the passage of time. Here, I feel the sanctity of religion and the deep beauty that time has bestowed. As I leave, a gentle breeze seems to bring a blessing, reminding me to cherish this inner peace.

Walking the Heritage Trail in Macau to see these colourful buildings!
I crossed the border from Zhuhai into Macau to spend the day walking around Macau. Such an interesting place with both Cantonese and Portuguese influence everywhere.
Must sees:
1. A-Ma Temple - the oldest building in Macau, and how Macau got its name!
2. Moorish Barracks
3. Lilau Square - so charming, it does feel like being in Portugal!
4. St. Lawrence’s Church
5. St. Joseph’s Seminary and Church
6. St. Augustine’s Square
7. St. Augustine’s Church
8. Dom Pedro V Theatre - the first Western style theatre in China. Go inside to see the theatre!
9. Sir Robert Ho Tung Library
10. Senado Square - the iconic square; every building around it is more than 100 years old
11. “Leal Senado” Building
12. The General Post Office Building
13. Holy House of Mercy
14. St. Dominic’s Church
15. Ruins of St. Paul’s - most famous spot, very busy in the middle of the day.
16. Na Tcha Temple
17. Section of the Old City Walls
18. Mount Fortress
Crossing the border took about 40 mins on the way out, and only 15 to come back, super easy for a day trip!
