Pleasant Cafe in Sagada!🇵🇭
#timetotravel
It was my family's first trying out a Lemon Pie. This isn't your typical pie as of course with the name itself, it is a little bit sour but when partnered with their moutain tea then it becomes a perfect combination! The interior and facade of his cafe is simple but cozy. You can have a chat with your friends or your family as it doesn't get too noisy their. It is quite small and an intimate place. A must visit cafe in Sagada if you want to try a lemon pie.
Address: Atey, Dao-angan, Sagada. Enjoy your lemon pie!

Sagada’s Twin Hills: Try to Catch the Sunrise
-> Marlboro Hill and Blue Soil Hill
Trekking these 2 hills requires a 4am wake up to catch the shuttle bus to the bottom of Marlboro Hill. A 1 hour trek up a gradual climb takes you to the top where you’ll hope to see the sunrise! But be wary of the classic morning fog that stopped us seeing a clear sunrise.
A stall at the top also sells coffee if you need that extra boost!
On the way down, see the fog give way to a beautiful pine forest and the trademark Blue Soil Hill. Copper deposits inside the soil give it this unique colour. Multiple stalls selling small bites can be found along the way.
Return to the shuttle bus around 9am and head back to town for a well deserved rest!
Cost: 2900 pesos which for us was split between 8 people. If you’re travelling alone or in a small group make sure to ask to join an existing bigger group!

Sagada is
Sagada is known for its traditional Igorot cuisine, which includes dishes like etag (smoked pork) #newyearadventure and pinikpikan (a dish made from beating a chicken until it's tender), rice wine, and bamboo dishes like tube rice and rice cake. Some of the popular tourist sights in Sagada include:
Echo Valley: A valley famous for its echoes where visitors can shout and listen to their voice bounce off the surrounding cliffs.
Rice Terraces: Rice paddies carved into the mountainside, showcasing the traditional agriculture of the Igorot people.
St. Mary's Episcopal Church: A historic church that serves as a popular spot for tourists and locals alike.
These are just some of the many sights and experiences to be had in Sagada.

The Climb... and What Waits on the Other Side
Hiking may not strike some people as a relaxing activity because it requires physical exertion and endurance. But it's one of the most rewarding recreational activity that a person can engage in. I have not been to many mountains and I have none to compare Sagada's Kiltepan peak to, but all I can say is it's worth waking up early and wading through the muddy trail to witness the sunrise atop the mountain. I found myself catching my breath, not from the hike, but because of the breathtaking view.

Experienced being above the clouds!
Catching the sunset above a sea of clouds… Marlboro Hill is located in Sagada, one of the popular tourist spots in the Philippines.
Sharing this once in a lifetime experience.. I know there are other countries with a spectacular view such as this but I would like to share one from my own.
Am getting old already so I was thankful I still got to do this before my knees can’t take it, haha! Sagada is accessible by land travel. However, to get to the top of Marlboro Hills, you have to trek uphill. Your fitness level will depend how early you should go there to start the hike. Our group of 5 consists of me, my dad, my son and 2 guides. I have quite bad knees and my dad as well so we had to stop every once in a while during the hike. We started between 3AM to 4AM, if I remember correctly. It took us almost 2 hours of trekking uphill muddy soil. The portable walking sticks I bought from here (SG) came in very handy!!! When we reached the top of Marlboro hill, there were a lot of people already but we still managed to find a good spot.
Another anticipated moment aside from watching the beautiful sunrise is the rolling in of the sea of clouds… That was such a sight, capturing it in timelapse! My photos didn’t bring it justice but I managed to have a few good shots.
Near the viewing area, there are portable toilets and a few eateries selling coffee, congee, sandwiches, etc. Aside from hiring transport and guide (costs vary), you need to pay a tourism/environmental fee (less than equivalent of SGD3).
Please check out all the photos, see the wonder of nature through my eyes…

High in the mountains of the Philippines, Sagada is a place that feels sacred. Hanging coffins on limestone cliffs, caves echoing with silence, and morning fog that rolls like a dream — it’s haunting, beautiful, and unforgettable.
Come for the peace, stay for the mystery.

Sky-High Traditions: The Hanging Coffins of Sagada
High in the misty mountains of Sagada, the hanging coffins tell a story of an ancient and sacred tradition. Suspended on limestone cliffs, these coffins reflect the Igorot people's belief in bringing their departed closer to the heavens. A trek to Echo Valley unveils stunning views, serene forests, and the awe-inspiring sight of these unique burial practices. This cultural experience is a journey into the spiritual heritage of the Philippines, offering a glimpse into the region's deep respect for life, death, and the afterlife.

Sagada MP: Wealth of Filipino Culture
Sagada of Mountain Province in the Philippines is such an eye-opener to lots of folks on how simple life can be.
One thing about traveling is you get to explore and embrace different cultures, traditions even their perspectives making you more a diverse person.
Sagada makes you so local and simple. It has so many breathtaking sceneries, good food, and lots of good people you get to meet.
I was able to meet like 10 random people and on our last day, we get to share who we are around a bonfire. Opening up to a random person makes you feel great because you know at the end of the day, that person has no idea who you are. Great accommodation. They don't have a five-star hotel as they only have a simple inn with a great room interior & staff.
The food is great, especially the coffee! You get to walk in the rice terraces which I hope imagined myself walking into when I was a kid.
Also Knowing their traditions and cultures is such an eye-opening. Sagada is worth visiting especially when you like to walk! See the sunrise from the Marlboro Hills.
By just taking and looking at the simple photos, you can already see the healthy culture of Sagada or the Mountain Province. Definitely on my top 3 list on my list.
Will surely come back to Sagada Mountain Province.

At the mouth of the cave, there are piles of small wooden coffins. There are more than 100 coffins stacked at the entrance. The oldest coffin is believed to be about 500 years old. Note: To enter the cave, there must be a guide every time. For safety reasons, the officer will ask for the name and age of the person traveling with you.

Marlboro Country ,Grassy Land in Sagada ,Mt.Provin
Marlboro Country, Grassy Land in Sagada, Mt. Province
We stayed in Sagada, woke up at 03:30, left the accommodation, took a pickup truck with the local guide at 04:15 to go to the mountain hiking point. The distance from the bottom to the top of the mountain took about 50-60 minutes on foot. The path was pitch black, but the guide had a flashlight to guide the way the whole time and took good care of us. The hiking path was dirt, some parts were wet, some parts were uphill and downhill, so we had to be very careful while walking. At 05:15, we reached the top of the mountain. The wind was strong and extremely cold. There was breakfast, water, snacks, and souvenirs up there. We sat waiting for the sunrise. The clouds, fog, mountains, trees, and crowds of people saw the first light of the day. It was beautiful and worth the long drive from Baguio City to Sagada Province. The total time taken was stopping to take pictures along the way, having lunch, and using the restroom. Some parts of the road were under construction, with two lanes of traffic on each side. There were hundreds of curves, going up and down the mountain alternately, for about 5-6 hours.
The way down the mountain was the same way. It takes another 50-60 minutes to go down the hill.
