St. Michael's Church is a Catholic church and the largest Renaissance church north of the Alps. Built between 1583 and 1597, it is a Jesuit church. The style of the building had a huge influence on early Baroque architecture in southern Germany. The high white hemispherical dome in the church is very beautiful, and the relief modeling is lifelike. Sculptures and paintings are brilliantly decorated with gold leaf and marble. Bavaria's more beloved king "Castle Madman" Ludwig II is buried in the grounds of this church.
